Schools, Hospitals, Charities, the list could continue for pages of all the religious funding the government provides. I agree, it all should stop. Every dime should be returned.

Why doesnt the ACLU go after these?

I think the Secret service should not be allowed to provide protection when People go into Churches or Holy Ground. Let's really seperate it.

Heck any law with a biblical basis should be repealed right? Part of the premise of Radical seperation is that it doesn't matter if the democratic process reaches the same conclusion as a religion, if its religious based it is invalid and illegal.

So Murder is legal. Yay!! Natives say a mountain is sacred so you can't pee on it. Fuck em!!!

Exactly!! why stop at a cross... we should make it all seperate. If a murder is committed on "holy ground" oh well... its not the state's problem.

Look into it. The ACLU has gone after a lot of that stuff. That's how Christmas, in the US, is legally a secular holiday.

And religious schools still recieve grovernment funding.. as do most charities proclaiming themselves to be religious.

IF its to be seperation of church and state... then make it so... totally. Why all this fucking around with this little thing and that little thing?

There are enough athiests on these boards. why not contact the ACLU and file suits? End all government funding for these programs.

Something tells me you wont get far at all.

Because that is how the Men who generations ago, after fighting in WW1 came home and chose to honor thier fallen comrades.

No, actually their works will speak long after thier passing from this life, untill silenced, as you and the ACLU want to happen.

I just don't get it. A 75 year old memorial put up by returning WW1 vets on private land, and you want to detroy it......

No...it is vitally important that we remember that this is NOT a Christian country. That as someone born as a Jew and grown self-avowed athiest, I have someone saying that this country is not less mine because I do not worship at the cross. I do not want anyone to have their rights to worship as they choose taken away. That is an important freedom. Neither do I want to see the Christians take over and impose their dogma on my laws, my life or my country.

As far as I'm concerned, Christianity, Jeudism and Islam deserve as much consideration in the making and administering of our laws as Pastafarianism (look it up). The argument here is not "Should we have a war memorial here." It is "Should we have the cross, which is to Chrisitanity what the golden arches are to McDonalds, being shown as having more of a right to be shown than the symbols of other religions or complete non-belief.

That is what's important. And that is worth fighting for.

Nonsense, go get a piece of private land (just like these soldiers did) and put up your "Pasta memorial".

Go for it. IF decades after you put it up and keep maintaining it, the Gov takes the land for a park, I will fight for your right to keep it there. And for others to not be able to come along and mess yours up.

Why don't you? Go put up your pasta memorial.

I agree the Governemnt should not go around putting up Crosses on public land. That would be wrong, and a violation of the Constitution. But that is not at all what is going on here. The cross was there before it was Gov land. Put up by Veterans as an "organic" Memorial to their fallen comrades. And it has been maintained for 75 years.

Like I said before, It is not conservatives who made "Liberal" into a dirty word. People like you did.

Once again, you elevate the level of conversations RWH. Calling people pigs. What happened? Did you get tired of typing words like Stalinist and nazi over and over?

The point you miss is not when it was put on government land, nor that it was there. It is that when another religion said that it wanted to put up a war memorial with their religious bend to things, they were denied, saying that they cannot put religious symbols there. So basicly, the cross is ok, other religious symbols not ok.

Funny, I don't see a single person yelling about the fact that the government are denying soldiers a memorial by allowing this to be placed. No, they just use any excuse to huddle 'round the old rugged cross.

There is no way you can call this encroachment by religion. Its just dumb to say.

Pigs want to tear down other's memorials.

The "Why?" is because it was there first, and a deal was worked out to grow the Park by 4 net acres, by giving up one acre around the preexisting cross. After decades of being on public land with no problem.

This commonsense solution is what the ACLU is fighting. It is nonsense. They and the Left who support it are pigs. Conservatives get called far worse on these boards quite regulalry.

The rest of your post is just blather to try to change the subject. IF you want start a thread on any of those I will comment, some I support, some I don't. (but like the "bhuddist in the court case" or the "pastafarian" you don't really want that do you, it's just an argument of absurdity, which is covered in Alinsky's "rules", with a dash of Abby Hoffman.

But you never answered your direct accusation against me in post 36? Are you not going to back it up or apologize? Thats probably in Alinsky's "rules" also.

That's the 3rd time. You've been corrected about it more than once.

The original cross was put up in 1934, more than 15 years after the armistice, so no one was returning. That cross fell down many years ago. A white metal pipe cross was put up around the time the land was acquired by the federal government in 1994.
