Michael Bloomberg will get rid of the radicals by morning.

Truly something to be proud of.

By the way, what were they doing that was radical?

You conservatives are always crying about free speech,  but I guess that just means the free speech you want to hear.

Watch the video.

It reminds me of the time I was in New Orleans with my ex-wife and she was being a little 'special' that day so I decided to make my lawyer happy and do a self guided walking tour in the steps of Lee Harvey Oswald. I ask the Consierge of the hotel cause i can't find that "fair play for cuba  place on any map ... he points across the street to a small park between buildings where there is a sculpture of a ribbon kind of drifting up into the sky. He grins and say in a crusty nola black guy accent "you know what that called? ,pause> Outta Here"

Not sure if anyone's reading this within time to take advantage of it... But Michael Moore has apparently joined, or is supporting the Occupation Folk and he is on Piers Morgan (CNN) right now... going back to watch.

Just found this on firedoglake.com   It is about the total hypocrisy and obvious bias of NY toward the tea party vs. "the people".

Hey folks... found a few cool resources to show support and keep an eye on the goings on... The first is what appears to be the most active facebook page for the protest... over 2k likers and lots of commentary:

http://www.facebook.com/Occupywallstreet

Please take a look and lend your support if you wanna keep these folks energized!

My Comments are in bold...

This is apparently the 'official' (if there is any such thing) website

https://occupywallst.org/

Lots of fresh info video, etc plenty of contact info and Just look for example of how they do their best to influence peaceful protest... In my opinion... these guys definitely deserve our support:

I like how these guys are doing their information....

March Guidelines

Published 2011-09-25 04:23:55 UTC by OccupyWallSt

  Stay together and KEEP MOVING!
Don't instigate cops or pedestrians with physical violence.
  Use basic hand signals.
Empowered pace keeps at the front, back and middle of every march. These folks are empowered to make directional decisions and guide the march.
We respect diversity of tactics, but consider how our actions may affect the entire group.

Now check this out... Here's some recent information and when some of it apparently was misreported... they came back in and posted a timely retraction. These folks are definitely not just a bunch of disgruntled young people. They've thought this out, they're staying on top of things and frankly, I think everyone who gives a rat's ass about the ethical and spiritual future of this country has a duty to look inside themselves and ask the question, do I want to ignore this like every other fucking issue that rolls past my nose? Or do I want to make sure this small sound is heard as loudly as it deserves to be heard.? After that, just do what's in your heart, or draw on the the thoughts of others as to what you/we/us need to do.
Why sit on the fucking sidelines?

At least four arrested, one for shooting photos UPDATE: at least eighty arrested, five maced | RETRACTION: no tear gas used

Published 2011-09-25 12:11:29 UTC by OccupyWallSt

We have at least four arrests today during a community march, a fifth arrest is suspected but police will not confirm.

A legal observer attempting to contact an arrested member was not allowed to due to “an emergency situation,” we are currently unsure of what this means. At least one arrest was due to a protester taking photographs. At least one protester's possessions have not been returned.

Please call the first precinct, central booking and the Deputy Commissioner of Public Information and urge them to release these peaceful protesters.

First precinct: +1 (212) 334-0611
Central booking: +1 (212) 374-3921
Deputy Commissioner of Public Information: +1 (646) 610-6700
NYPD Switchboard: 1-646-610-5000

UPDATE: We are now receiving reports that at least 80 protesters have been arrested. The National Lawyer's Guild puts the number at around one hundred. Liberty square is currently full with an ongoing discussion on how to respond to this unprecedented level of police aggression. Police are currently surrounding the square. There is nearly one police officer for every two protesters.

Earlier today we had reports of police kettling protesters with large orange net, using tasers, at least five protesters have been maced.

Didn't sound like that on Piers Morgan tonight. Sounded like he just hates bankster assholes like the rest of us.
Present company excluded of course... nothing left to the imagination as to who you're in the tank for.

What are they accomplishing besides getting some face time? Nothing that I can see.

Exactly, this isnt the same thing as the protest the Tea Party Held, holding up their signs. Look at what they accomplished.

You needn't worry Willbee... nobody even kids themselves about your viewpoint relative to this thread. But if you want to build a strong association with servantforuse... Have at it baby

I would imagine that the argument would be that Congress hasn't created the requirement for permits; the requirement is by local law.
Well doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose?

I just asked because it is a little confusing. Our Charter <which is like the Bill of Rights for us> applies to all levels of government, doesn't your Bill of Rights apply everywhere, or does it only apply to Congress?

The Bill of Rights applies to all levels of government, as does the entire Constitution. It's just the particular wording in this case "...CONGRESS shall make no law abridging the freedom of speech..." Literally it means ONLY Congress is prohibited from doing so. (As opposed to the 2nd Amendment, which says "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed", and NOT "...shall not be infringed by Congress") It was a bad wording, and if i'm not mistaken, Thomas Jefferson wasn't happy with it.
