NuevaVida -> Connecticut shooting at elementary school (12/14/2012 11:37:51 AM)

24 year old gunman shot up the classroom that his mother taught, at a Newton, CT elementary school. 26 killed, including 18 children. Mother was shot and killed, gunman was shot and killed.

It's not often news stories make me cry, but this one did.

Rule -> RE: Connecticut shooting at elementary school (12/14/2012 11:44:05 AM)

There already is a thread about this in P & R.

mnottertail -> RE: Connecticut shooting at elementary school (12/14/2012 11:45:41 AM)

There may be souls who care deeply about this and would like to comment but dare not brave the unnavigable frontiers of politics and religion.

NuevaVida -> RE: Connecticut shooting at elementary school (12/14/2012 11:51:02 AM)

Lets keep politics and religion over there in the P&R section. I'm watching the news and the anchors have tears in their eyes reporting this. I'm not interested in debates here. I just wanted a place to grieve.

I hear ya, Ron.

Just cruised through the other thread - thanks Rule. Didn't know I was creating a duplicate.

tazzygirl -> RE: Connecticut shooting at elementary school (12/14/2012 11:54:33 AM)

Its ok. Im sure that one will dissolve into a 2nd rights argument. These poor people.

Lucylastic -> RE: Connecticut shooting at elementary school (12/14/2012 12:03:15 PM)

Gives Nueva a hug, IM feeling the same ...I hope this one stays out of the P&R bull that is BOUND to start. Im heartbroken... beyond anything I can actually put into words

NuevaVida -> RE: Connecticut shooting at elementary school (12/14/2012 12:05:28 PM)

Hugs back to you, Lucy. I can't wrap my mind around it. Just sitting here speechless.

calamitysandra -> RE: Connecticut shooting at elementary school (12/14/2012 12:44:18 PM)

I just heard about it on the news while driving a car full of kids home after a basketball game. I had to pull over for a moment to get myself together and be able to drive again. The kids where just stunned and horrified.

Our thoughts are with everybody affected by this tragedy.

LadyPact -> RE: Connecticut shooting at elementary school (12/14/2012 1:07:57 PM)

What a shocking event. It's unfathomable, but here it is.

I can't imaging what the parents of those twenty children are going through.

tazzygirl -> RE: Connecticut shooting at elementary school (12/14/2012 1:09:38 PM)

Do us a favor?

ONE DAY without finger pointing along political lines!

ONE DAY for the victims to matter... dont make this about politics!

ONE DAY for people to come to grips with 18 - 20 very young children killed.. and all the others who were there and watched/heard!

JUST ONE FUCKING DAY without the political bullshit.

OsideGirl -> RE: Connecticut shooting at elementary school (12/14/2012 1:10:42 PM)

There are no words for this.

mnottertail -> RE: Connecticut shooting at elementary school (12/14/2012 1:31:53 PM)

It looks like a husband and wife thing, not political unless the sexes are political.

It is a tragedy under any circumstance.  We could hardly feel any better that there was gun control and innocent children in the full bubble of youth and life were hacked to death with an axe, now could we?

Let these troubles be sufficient for the day.

poise -> RE: Connecticut shooting at elementary school (12/14/2012 1:41:07 PM)

O God we can hardly speak, our minds are so full of questions, that we can barely think.
We are even angry Lord. In this tragic moment we ask that you will help us feel your warm embrace.

Father, you taught us how to love your children and now even in eternity, we ask that you give a special
blessing to the little ones now in your care. We think to day of the pleasures that will not be experienced,
let us also think of the pain that will not have to be endured.

These children will never lose the purity of innocence and at this moment in the midst of feeling great
love and sorrow we ask that you share our burden, as we cannot bear it alone.

AMEN

I have just gotten home from work, and read this on Yahoo. I am in tears. So many babies gone.....

susieqh -> RE: Connecticut shooting at elementary school (12/14/2012 2:15:57 PM)

It is a horrific tragedy that not only includes the lives of young children but his own mother, possibly a sibling an the possibility of others. My prayers go out to the community for their loss and grief and the unknown lingering questions everyone will have as to the why's of such a tragedy.

I can't seem to write a post that doesn't violate about 6 TOS rules, so I'm just going to say that when I land in San Francisco on Sunday.. I'm going to hug my children and grandchildren so tight they probably won't be able to breath.

If I ever get to a point where I see or hear of such useless loss of life and 'don't bat an eye', I will consider that my soul has died.

I agree. I text my daughter and asked her to watch the news now before the kids got home and please hug them really good. I suppose that when I see them, I will have to resist squeezing a bit too tight and a bit too long. Normally they like my hugs, but I can see at least one squirming to be free. lol

NuevaVida -> RE: Connecticut shooting at elementary school (12/14/2012 2:37:41 PM)

Shame that this thread has turned into what it has.

For those who don't understand why certain tragedies get more attention than others, we've had threads on that before. Please do go look them up, there were good responses in them.

I had specifically asked for politics and arguing to not be brought into this thread. Gun control is a political issue. Hey, I don't rule the world and I don't always get what I ask. For those arguing with the dwarf, it's not worth the energy - my ex didn't bat an eye at the 9/11 tragedy. Freaked me the fuck out, actually. Sociopaths aren't capable of that (and he was diagnosed as that, later), and will never be convinced. Let it go.

If people wish to come together to share their grief here, that's what I created this thread for. If people wish to come here and spew negativity on those who are sad...well, I hope it feels good for you; you're entitled to it, but I ask that you do not. Please feel free to create a different thread for that.

I don't have children, and I feel very sad. I have my own personal reasons for feeling sad. I know there are folks who won't understand that, won't agree with that, and won't like that. You have your own personal reasons for that. Feel free to start a thread on it.

My compassion lies with those poor kids, and that's where I'm keeping it right now.

To everyone else, Im sorry for my posts that were unrelated to the tragedy that happened.

All is well, tazzy. Emotions are high right now.
