You do realize the name of the thread is a complete oxymoron right? Feminism is not something for men, it's like asking what does gay rights do for straight people. Feminism, in case you don't understand what feminism is, is the act for trying to achieve equality between women and men, and even today that equality doesn't always exist. Women still get paid less than men. The only thing feminism tries to do for men, is make it so men aren't sitting up on a pedestal with rights while women are below scooping up the scraps.

What are men's issues? Because I've never seen any prevailing issue that has needed the type of rallying cry that feminism has needed over the decades.

Someone very wise person once compared feminism to running track. On a track, the ones running closer to the center will run a shorter distance than the ones on the edge. Similarly, men have a lot of things easier than women. In order to make track running fair, the runners start at different places, so that the total distance run will be the same for everyone, and that's exactly what feminism is. Feminism isn't about making women rule everything, it's not about unfair advantages or man-hate. It's simply about leveling the playing field and make sure everyone has the same chances regardless of gender. As Tkman117 very cleverly put it: What does the gay rights movement do for straight people? Nothing, because that's not the point. What does honest charity organizations do for rich and healthy people? Nothing, that's not the point. What did the black rights movement do for whites? Nothing, that's not the point. What does feminism do for men? Nothing, that's not the point. Because straight, rich, healthy white men don't need help.

Lol, you just really hate women dont you pal? Because honestly, a couple of obscure and very misleading videos with only a few thousand views doesnt make it much of a prevailing issue. If it was, wouldn't there be a much larger outcry in the political and social systems? Plus, a few youtube videos simply conveying opinions isnt going to magically create these "issues." Bring me some actual research on how men are so oh oppressed more than women and maybe you'll have me convinced, but it'll take a lot more than some half assed videos on youtube.

I'd say the same thing about a creationist video, big bang video, evolution video, climate change video, race baiting video, etc. The fact that it's from youtube makes it biased and not a fact, it's opinion. FInd me a genuine article or your facts will fade into the black as misogynistic dribble.

I don't think this is entirely true. Otherwise men would have no reason to support feminism and straight people wouldn't have any reason to support gay rights. There is an answer to the OP's question, though: The reason why we support equality for all is because we also want to be treated as equals. We support human rights because we want to protect our rights, too, since we're also human. We get something for sticking by and living up to our stated principles, such as equality and human rights. Also, there are some of us who actually know some women and gays in real life, and since we care about them as people, their rights and well-being are important to us.

It does nothing for me, nor does it do anything against me. One could pretty much take the top lid off the toilet seat without a change in my lifestyle. It is not an issue of any consequence to men, it is of some consequence to women.

You should always close the toilet before you flush. Flushing causes a mist of air borne bacteria to disperse as far as 20 feet. This means that bacteria lands on you, your hands, as well as your toothbrush or the soap you use to wash your hands. This is what makes public bathroom so unhealthy, most don't provide lids. I would apologize for the thread jack, but I can't see anyone taking one of Nick's threads seriously.

One thing that feminism (no matter how it's defined) has achieved for males is that it has made them aware of gender issues and the politics of gender. Most sensible men have taken that on board and have some understanding of how important an issue gender is, and the facts that: 1. gender influences virtually every aspect of human behaviour in all human cultures; and 2. gender imbalances are bad for everyone. Sadly a few Neanderthals and class A morons haven't yet managed to get their troglodyte minds around these elementary facts of life yet. Some people here think that nick doesn't qualify as one of these and struggle to get him to see the light. I admire their optimism.
