I let someone I met who needed a place to stay live with me for over 6 months. Because I remembered that someone once helped me find and apartment when I "ran away from home" due to a knock down drag out fight with my mother when I was 19 (I was in college and living w/my parents). I left and didn't return for a good long while. This person I knew only a short time let me stay with them for a few days and also helped me rent the apartment across the hall from them (I had 90% of the money, just needed about $75). We became life-long friends - but he died, sadly, of AIDs a few years ago. I miss him, he was so much fun. He was a great guy - one in a million. I miss him every day. So anyway - years later, I met a gal who needed a place to live - her room-mates were really hassling her, and making her life miserable. And, even though I didn't know her that well, I knew she was a good person. And she didn't know anyone else in town - she was new to my city. And she'd had such a rough life, too. So she moved in, and we had so much fun, and she was responsible as a room-mate, too - we went everywhere together. Then I met my husband ,and he wanted to move in with me, so she graciously moved out. She is getting her Master's degree now, and is engaged. - Susan
