Greetings,

Historically most often consensual slaves were debt slaves or otherwise known as bond servants. They were working for the Owner of their own free will in order to pay off a debt of some sort. For some Roman slaves, and I can't find the exact reference atm, they became used to or adjusted to the slavery and therefore pierced their ears indicating their willingness to be life long slaves. This was done of their own free will and when they were about to be released.

Penal slaves, as has been noted, were worked to death in the mines and galleys. Many of the male prisoners of a conquered people were kept that way as well. Females were often used to mix the two peoples and end rebellions.

In the Bible there is a reference to Josephs brothers after he had become a bigwig in egypt. In this case the brothers brought their own people into slavery of their own free will in order to obtain food. Thus leading to the slavery of the Jews by the Pharohs of Egypt. Egyptian and Babalonian slaves, just like the Romans and Greeks were a mixture of consensual, penal, and conquest slaves.

Many time in history this has been the case where someone who is starving will sell themselves in order to obtain those basic material components of life. Most often in the records this was done usually for a set period of time with the obligees having the ability to extend the contract at its end. Or as previously noted, extend it indefinitely by the consensual act of the slave. In most cases this would suggest that the normal everyday slavery of the time was not as bad as many would believe. In some cases it was seen as a way of bettering ones lot in life as often the slaves were better treated than the serfs who were supposed to be free.

The world slave has become a generic term for submissive, i myself dont use the term, i use the term pet, as it is more accurate to how I am, I am not a slave, i will not do anything generaly speaking, although for "the one" that would probably be null and void statement. to keep me you would as you would a pet. :P just my 2 cents,

your thoughts one slavery is different, the slave we have now are no where near what slavery was in the old south

first the big very big different is when a slave had a child her child no matter if is were by the master or a slave pick for her to bred, there is the biggest difference in the world.

let me explain i have read many books on slavery i am a history reader of the civil war on down to how it began.

now when the woman who is a slave has a child they had no ideal when this child would be take from her they the owner would let her bond with this child, then at any momet they would take this child and sel her or him, they would not care and did not care they this was a part of her.
she was left with no child and this happen over and over auntil she would be to old to bear childern so everyone of the childern she gave birth to was sold. and they made sure they sold it so far she would not be able to telll where the childern went .

then they made sure the slaves could not read so they would nto be able to learn which way was south or east.
you made it sound so that the slave of the lifestly are treat this ways. when a slave was a cook the mistress would have her cook and then as to make sure then had not food she would spit into the pot each and every pot so no food and trust me they woulfd not even think of eating it aafter that.
beating were given out for such things as not cleaning right or looking inot the master or mistress eyes not a mean look but just looking.

even the person who loving took and rasie each one of the master or mistress childer was not safe from a beating one story was a master beat the slave who rasied all of his kids when her was sold off to place unknow they had a tree that was in the front yard what every she did she beat her until she begged the children beg him to stop her word to him were " i rasie you childern with love why are you beating me you will never rest he left her hanging she was still alive the master was ask and begged to bring her in she died on the tree.
that tree neve made a sound until she died the briggs creak and move and it drove the family craze the master most.

i could go on of the horroes of what had happen to many of the people who were slaves but it would make you ill yes there were master who love their women slaves and many sent them and the childern they had back east to saft but to say that slavery is the same is so wrong there is a differece i never heard of a slave child being sold? have you i do not tthink so .. when you wwant to express how the slaves are being treated badly please remember my ltter and what had really happen and what is happening now.

when i had my slave i did not treat him like an animal nor did i ever spit in the food left over.

i suggest you read on slavery in the south and other parts of the world before you assume they are treat badly .

at first being a black woman i struggle with my own thoughts on what i had being reading for years and what i would do with my slave i know what not to do first and for most
