And what about mode of dress while being caged?
I would imagine that that would heighten the senses of being caged as well.
Would you for instance want to be in a business suit? Lingerie? Naked?
And how about being handcuffed while caged?
And if you had a garage you could "suspend" the cage from the ceiling by about 5 or 6 feet.
Susan, another fun thread!

Popeye, you have a very active imagine.

i have experienced cages in casual play, and enjoyed it.  But W/we are all different, i wonder how i would cope in a 24/7 regime where a cage was a part of the furniture.

Thank you susan for the thread.

I wrote a book about it. For the Cliff Notes version, for me it was all about the control, the security and the kept nature of the caging experience, knowing that when you've offered yourself completely, the cage reminds you even when she's not around that you are hers constantly and completely.

Great thread, Susan.

I really like the idea of cages myself for the reasons you, LA and MrDiscipline stated, although I have never had the experience yet.  One thing, though, is I'm not an exhibitionist...at all...so it will be interesting to see how I react to it when/if it happens.

And if someone if an exhibitionist it could be very erotic for them to be locked into a cage naked and be watched by someone.

I agree.  I also think I wouldn't have a choice but to get over being so self-concious.  Not that I think I need fixed or anything, cause I don't, but any experience changes us in some way.  And that is a possible benefit I can see coming from it.

Bearlee: Yeah - but I would have assumed it was locked too, probably. Why wouldn't someone lock it? I'd just assume they did.

- Susan

When I have been caged it has never been locked with a phsyical lock.  I also never would have thought of coming out until told to.

The mental control is what I need, the fact that I am there simply becauuse he tells me to be there.  Just like him lifting my legs to a certain point, or my arms and telling me to remain there until told differently.  Yes, there are times I enjoy bondage, but wow being bound without rope or cuffs is so much more for me.

I have been caged for some fairly long periods, naked of course. One cage was pretty restrictive the other pretty large. For me it's the objectification thing (animal in a cage) next to her water dish, and with the whole world going by around me.

I had a friend in Newbury, Mass who had a metal working, formula two race car shop in his back yard who built cages and sold them for $300 each. They looked like bird cages about 5 feet high with a seat in them.
We went to a big party in Frederick, Maryland one time in my truck  where this guy had a huge horsefarm and enourmous house with fully equiped dungeon rooms in the basement .
There were probably 60-80 people there for the sat night party and my friend sold three of his cages.
He also fabricated "Branks" like a cage for the head.

Yes, I can understand that.  There are so many reasons why this topic appeals to me that it is hard to put my finger on just one.

I really like Susan's threads.  She always asks the *best* questions.

neferatari: Gosh, I'm blushing. Thnaks. Actually, it makes me feel good because I was thinking when I wrote it that my questions' quality was going downhill.

I really appreciate all the replies to this thread. Thanks, people!

I'm a male switch who has greatly enjoyed cages from both sides of the bars.  As the dom, I enjoy being able to view all of that beauty and energy temporarily confined, restricted and controlled, similar to bondage, where I can view and access the sub when and as often as I wish.  Plus the contrast of nice soft human skin with the cold bars, again similar to restraints.

As a sub, I think littlesarbonn and some others summed it up pretty well.  I like the confinement, the display factor - which is curious because I'm usually pretty shy - and there can indeed be that sense of "this is my slave space" that you have alluded to, it's comforting in an odd way.  I sort of played with this as a top once in one of my favorite scenes where I put the sub in a tall, standing type cage and manipulated her and put her in different positions for a while and left her a bit in "her space", then later opened the cage and stepped in and proceeded to stroke and play with her, both of us inside the cage.  I liked the feeling that I was sort of invading her space and reestablishing control and ownership without actually violating her in the more traditional way.  I found it pretty hot and she seemed to enjoy it too.

As a sub I've been mainly put in cages at clubs, only once in privat so far.  It is pretty nice, especially for shy types and/or newbies, to be able to watch what is going on with fewer worries about being approached or expected to go off and do things while still being a part of things to some degree, you're not just watching a video or through a 2 way mirror, you're actually part of the atmosphere and "decorations".   It can also be good for teasing and I've spent some enjoyable times watching the female domme just beyond the bars, teasing me (which I love) with her body or slipping her hands or toes between the bars for me to worship, or straining to reach her lips or have her reach mine through the bars.

And yes, cage size can make a big difference.  I personally agree with you, Susan, the really small cages usually just frustrate me, especially the ones with the closely spaced, tiny bars.  I much prefer larger ones with decent size bars (and space between them so you can see out and/or interact with things when permitted) where you can move around a bit and get in different positions, even if you can't fully stretch out.  Boredom can also become an issue pretty quickly unless you have an assignment or something or someone to view, listen to, or interact with.  As a top I can appreciate very small cages for short term use when you want them held in a certain position and for them to realize that and know they have no control and can only stay in that position and react as they are stimulated.  I would want something bigger for longer sessions though.

I hope this has been helpful and perhaps even inspirational.  Thanks for a great question.

Puno
