Having read a few threads on lifestyler's feelings on alcohol, and finding the consensus is generally no alcohol.  People either don't drink at all or are absolutely against drinking at dungeons/playspaces and at playtime.

I'm curious to know what your experiences have been like in terms of folks on other mind altering drugs (pot, coke, heroin, meth, etc)...  Have you ever discovered that the person you're considering/dating/married to is using some illegal substance?  How have you dealt with it?     M
Scening and drinking..no thanks, I'd rather drive and I don't do that, that way, either. I gave up any drug interraction in the 70s and have no notion of ever going back there. So how would I deal with it if it was discovered thing...hmm, does dropping them like a hot potato sound too cruel?

LuckyAlbatross -> RE: No Alcohol, but What about drugs? (9/18/2006 4:23:21 PM)

I feel about drugs exactly the same way as I do about alcohol.

We are adults, we can choose to consent to what we want and I make my choice on what to do with them.  Someone having "a drug" in their system will not automatically be a yes or no to playing with them or considering them a good partner.

That being said, some drugs I find disgusting, addictive behavior is banished from my life and I won't tolerate it- in alcoholics, smokers, or any form of drugs (include prescription).

MistressTexas -> RE: No Alcohol, but What about drugs? (9/18/2006 4:34:17 PM)

I have no particular issue with pot. Growing up in a town where smoking pot is more the rule than the exception,  I know a ton of people whos"normal" state is stoned out of their gourds. Were I to scene with a "stoner" I would have to know them very very well, and know they are aware enough of themselves ehile stoned to participate safely in a scene. Anything stronger doesnt fly in any scene I do, and rarely with any of the people I hang out with. 1 line 1 time at a party? hmm ok fine. I'll frown and disaprove, but whatever. Start doing it regularly, and you will *not* be welcome in my home. I have no desire to have medics and police traipsing through and scaring my kitten because some idiot who thought regular snorting was a good idea. And to be honest, most of my friends that have started doing coke, heroin, meth etc.. are no longer my friends. I choose to surround myself with a different type of person, in both my BDSM and vanilla lives.

Sinergy -> RE: No Alcohol, but What about drugs? (9/18/2006 6:23:17 PM)

Hello A/all,

I had a comment I wanted to make.  I did make the statement that I do not do drugs, which is true, but I am almost militant in my opposition to marijuana laws.

Marijuana utilizes the endogenous cannibinoid recepter (post-synaptic phase of brain activity) in the brain.  It has all sorts of positive side effects which are currently being studied in almost every other country on the planet besides the USofA.  PTSD, Depression, anxiety disorder, etc., etc. ad nauseum are all relieved by THC.

I had a close friend who died of lung cancer years ago.  The last two years of her life, on massive chemotherapy, the only way she could keep a meal down or deal with the intense pain was using marijuana.

Alcohol kills people every year.  I dont recall off the top of my head any marijuana related deaths.  When I used to get stoned as a teenager, I would giggle for hours and then walk home from the surfer party.  The euphoriphobia which afflicts our elected officials boggles my imagination.  Somebody wants to get stoned and order Dominos pizza and wear tie-dye, who the hell are we to indicate that they should not do it.

I think it should all be legalized and taxed and regulated the way that alcohol is.

But that is just me and I could be wrong.

Sinergy

Yes, but fair if you've let them know that isn't permitted around/in your home. [:D]   For myself, am paranoid about illegal things around my home...  Some of my siblings/friends do pot, but I've let them know it isn't acceptable around my home.

No one will ever accuse you of not having an open and accepting tude babe.
Thanks for chiming in.
MistressTexas, so not much violence in your town, lol?   I do know some people who get very paranoid/anxious instead of relaxed with pot.

Thanks for responding Sinergy...  I'm ambivalent on the legal vs illegal marijuanana Laws.   As to whether smoking it impairs people, yes it does the people I've seen smoking a lot of it; fortunately those people are rarely stubborn and insistent on being capable of driving like most drinkers I've seen; they usually go eat, and sleep, which is not deadly to others on the road.  M

Emperor1956 -> RE: No Alcohol, but What about drugs? (9/19/2006 9:45:25 AM)

I'm just about 100% in synch with Sinergy on this one. My only qualm is on "legalized and taxed".  I'm more into "decriminalized and left alone".  I don't use illegal drugs*, and if 4-20 were legalized, I doubt it would hold much interest for Me.  I think our current enforcement/inderdiction scheme is silly, but I fear a government-administered tax system would also waste resources.

As for B/D/S/M play when stoned, its been a LONG time, but as I remember, I didn't have a lot of focus or energy (two things I think are desired in a Top) when I consumed THC.   I'd think it would make for some giggly, silly and pretty unproductive sessions.  But, to quote Sinergy, that is just Me, and I could be wrong.

Dear BlkTallFullfig, Ladies and Gentlemen;

I personally dislike having alcohol, beer, wine, spirits and liquor about me, as well as any drugs that are not obtained through a doctor's medical script (prescription).

It is a deal breaker for me, so I would scoot as fast as my domme sneakers permit me, hop into my 'domme mobile' and zoom out of there.

Respectfully submitted with a bit of wit,
Lady Hugs

Steelriven -> RE: No Alcohol, but What about drugs? (9/19/2006 1:30:30 PM)

Yes, can I have some please? Hehe, kidding. I used to be a pot head near my high schools days. I just got bored with it... I don't drink all that much, and I don't smoke pot all that much anymore.

However, yes GASP I have sceened while stonned. It was between two friends, non-sexual and involving mostly hospital restraints, and a jerry chair. There was also a little bit of humilation envolved, but mostly we were all laughing our ass off. We had a blast, and at the end smoked, ate, and went to bed. No complications... Then again we weren't doing anything too risky, or comlicated. Mostly wrestling around...

Would I do it again? Possibly.... I do belive, and many may argue with me... That one can of beer or a pull off the pipe so to speak an hour or so before a sceen can help loosen one up. And it doesn't have too much of an effect on motor skills.

I've never tried what I consider hard core drugs such as coke, glass, crack... And I would never scene with anyone taking hard core drugs. A beer, or small amount of pot not a problem. Anything else and I don't even want to be around you...

*Ducks for flameage hehe*

Why would you be flamed?  Your position makes perfect sense to me.   Thanks for responding.

Thanks for the funny response LadyHugs.
Also like Emperor1956's remove illegal marijuana laws (because jailing marijuana users is a most inefficient way to spend taxpayer money), but no government control of Marijuana, except to minors, in my opinion (like alcohol).   M

MizzMadMinx -> RE: No Alcohol, but What about drugs? (9/19/2006 4:22:54 PM)

Kudos Sinergy !! Yes if i wanted to..i could drive down to the liquor stor buy a 1/2 gallon of voka and kill myself.. if it were even possible, i would have to smoke an entire roomful of weed within minutes to get enough thc in my system to die.. yeah..but alcholhol can be controlled and taxed, and pot just grows on trres..if you were the government, what do you think would make you the most money!!??
My view on it generally. BUT in a scene NO..no getting high..why waste the natural high? Its better than pot, so why would i want to bring that pure sensation down? Also the risk factor..no matter how much pot you are used to smoking you might think you are in a "normal" state of mind..but then why do you smoke it? You are inebriated..its just not safe.

Emperor1956 -> RE: No Alcohol, but What about drugs? (9/19/2006 8:38:17 PM)

Where do you think alcohol comes from?  It grows on trees, in fields, in swamps, under the ground.  It takes a minimal amount of processing to make (granted, dope only takes harvesting and drying, but you get some really crappy stuff....I remember "Wisconsin Brown"  You had to smoke 3 lids to get a buzz!)

Alcohol can be made at both ends of the temperature spectrum.  You can distill it from "mash" or "beer" or you can take a keg full of hard cider, freeze it, and when you tap the slushy center, you get applejack!   This is proof that God loves us and all is right with the world *SMILE*

Saw the deterioration that happens slowly over time to people who take recreational drugs and think they "can handle them" - No thanks.... i have no interest in that at all on any level.  Too risky and dangerous.  Life's to short to waste it stoned or drunk. Even a little is too much for me.

Frank01 -> RE: No Alcohol, but What about drugs? (9/19/2006 10:25:05 PM)

When your master lives in a vial.........where are you?

Aubre -> RE: No Alcohol, but What about drugs? (9/20/2006 5:43:12 AM)

I've never done illegal drugs, that said - I don't think I want any drugs interacting with my brain while sceneing. The feeling I get while sceneing is so good, I don't want anything to mess with that. I don't want anyone I am sceneing with to have any drugs altering the experience for them either. Same goes for alcohol.

I can't be comfortable around drug users for any length of time because I worry. I worry that for some reason they will be in my car and I will get pulled over and the police will find a seed or something that the user dropped in my car and take it under asset forfeiture laws, or that they left some pot seed in my house and for some reason the police search my house and find a seed and seize it. I worry that I might get arrested too, just for being with the person or because the drug was found in my car or my home.  This bothers me so much I just have to avoid drug users.

What you're speaking of is inherently isolated to the US.  We're so uptight here in the states that we castigate those who have a cocktail with dinner before coming to the dungeon to play.  We don't know how to be responsible adults, or so it seems.  In my travels to Europe and Canada, I've come across playspaces with bars, and one in Holland that allowed soft drugs in the 'cafe'.  For the most part, folks were extremely responsible and did their beer/wine/weed (in a country where it's legal) after play, while they were all mellowed out and relaxing.

However, I can't say that I'd tolerate someone who does illicit substances -- it jeopardizes my home, my vehicle and my livelihood.

As a member of the law enforcement community, I have zero interest in being around people who utilize illegal substances. I also don't like being around people who drink heavily. A beer is ok....getting tipsy once a year on your birthday is ok...anything beyond that does not sit well with me.

Interesting you bring that up.  I have two part time slaves, both of whom are law enforcement supervisors, and on occasion, I have another couple of friends, scene-curious, who are also cops, who come to play parties with me.  It never fails to happen that someone at one of these parties that they happen to be at is either peddling, doing drugs, or strung out that it's visibly evident.  I could go to a dozen parties before without them and not a single time do the drugs come out.  It's priceless to see the looks on their faces as they try to "share" their stash and the boy (6' 2", 225, former marine) looks down and says, "I'm not sure you'd want to offer that to a cop....."  I just chuckle and we go play.
