Yeah sure, meatcleaver, you hear about that sort of thing all the time,

If your eyes are open.

I'm sure some haven't forgotten how Steven Green and four other soldiers SGT Paul E. Cortez, SPC James P. Barker, PFC Jesse V. Spielman and PFC Bryan L. Howard planned the rape and murder of a 14 year old muslim girl, and the murder of her FIVE YEAR OLD SISTER, MOTHER AND FATHER.

Christian v. Muslim Rape and Murder. That counts as a counter-example, don't you think?

Yes I think farglebargle, how about yourself - by Shariah law, atrocities are expected, even demanded. Yet the people you mentioned were arrested and prosecuted by our law and you read all about it in our free press and so by comparison, your example makes us look pretty damned good, and so I thank you for it.

ON a BDSM board you are going to bitch that a woman wore a headscarf and whine about women's rights?  Really?

LOL.  Oh thank you, Simply!  The vicoden has helping a little, but the endorphins didn't really kick in until I hit this bellylaugher.
Would this be the same BDSM board where you have raged against our torture at Abu Graib, knowing full well how many male subs here are desperate to have just that sort of thing done to them?  Priceless.

And the consensuality argument that springs promptly to mind, applies just as much to the women who better not go out without dressing according to the religious law.

Hell, I might have to upgrade from buying you beer someday, to buying you a drink.  No politics rule still applies though.

Man has this thread spun way off topic....

Fact of the matter is, the right wing media tried to spin Nancy Pelosi's do-rag into something other than what it was, her covering her head in a holy place, simply to show common respect.  They aslo conveniently forgot the gazillion photos, one of which I linked in a previous post to this thread, of Laura Bush sporting the same do-rag for the same reason.  Sanity is bent, becuase he was called on it and looks silly and that, really is that.

How adherent to Leviticus are y'all?

Nice try puella, but I'm far from "bent"

I love the fact that the poster child for the Liberal disease bowed down before Muslim extremists and chose to wear what oppressed women the world over must.

I think it's flat-out hysterical... I've always said, just give the Libbers enough rope and they'll hang themselves with it, just like Jimmy carter did back in the 1970's

And that's just what I see Pelosi doing. First, after all the promises, she anoints the most corrupt politicians she can find for leadership positions. Now she's acting like the complete and utter moron that she is - what more could I possibly hope for?

"bent" I am not, but keep trying. I hear that if you throw enough mud eventually some may stick, and hey - good luck with that.

Good point, farglebargle. One has to go back thousands of years to find examples of Westerners acting like Muslim extremists do today.

Keep that research coming buddy, I really appreciate all your help

servantforuse -> RE: Nancy Pelosi As A Muslim (4/4/2007 6:41:39 PM)

I think Nancy polosi would look better wearing a burka..If she wants to be a muslum, why not dress like one..

dcnovice -> RE: Nancy Pelosi As A Muslim (4/4/2007 6:43:27 PM)

I've a hunch that if Pelosi had not warn a head scarf, we'd have seen articles--and perhaps a CM thread--saying, "Can you believe that dumb liberal? She goes to a Muslim country and immediately alienates her hosts by not honoring a simple custom. How does she think she's gonna make any progress if she insults them from the get-go?"

Just a thought.

servantforuse -> RE: Nancy Pelosi As A Muslim (4/4/2007 6:50:58 PM)

Did anyone ever hear of the Logan Act? She is not supposed to be there trying to make policy with a foreign govt. It won't happen, but she should be in handcuffs (and not on a bed) when her plane lands on U S soil..

TheHeretic -> RE: Nancy Pelosi As A Muslim (4/4/2007 6:55:02 PM)

It's simply a matter of values, Sanity, and where they fall in the hierarchy.  When the Left talks about equality and injustice, women's rights, gay rights, I'm listening and nodding my head.  My departure is with the solutions they want to impose.

What's too tragic to be funny yet, is that Radical Islam should be their fight.  Unfortunately, the decision seems to have been made that the highest progressive value is to hate and oppose the Right at home.

Does that go as well for the Republican congressman who's in her delegation?

The burqa is not worn in Syria.

That's what makes pushing their buttons so much fun, though. I hold up these hoops and Liberals jump right through them. If they'll support a woman wearing a burqua today in order to "please her host" what will they be supporting tomorrow... it's too funny for words, isn't it. And I agree with you about the attacks by Simply, they'll make the whole day for a guy

juliaoceania -> RE: Nancy Pelosi As A Muslim (4/4/2007 7:05:59 PM)

Sanity, you really do not know much about modesty garments and the variety of expression they take all over the Muslim world from the Sudan to Indonesia, to Uganda. Not all Muslim women are forced to wear them, and not all of these garments serve the same purpose. The hajib is like a nun's habit.

Prepare to be shocked, Rich (we still allowed to call you that?), but this liberal is gonna agree with you.

While I do think some leftish folk (including this one, on occasion) are unhinged by their dislike of Bush, I think the bigger problem is that efforts to take a multicultural perspective (which has its merits, I think) make it hard for folks to grasp that, yes, some parts of some cultures are truly worth resisting.

Added: I also think I need to stop saying "I think" three times in a single sentence!

It's funny to hear you presume to know my mind so well, julia. I try to make myself clear, but you'll think whatever you're predisposed to. For all the good it does me I am clear about things when I say "Muslim extremists, Muslim fundamentalists, and I talk about my Muslim friends, but it all goes in one ear and out the other, doesn't it. You have one idea in your head about me and there is no shaking it, but I'll try one more time. Here's your clue, YOU DON'T KNOW ME SO QUIT PRETENDING THAT YOU DO.

There, was that clear enough for you

juliaoceania -> RE: Nancy Pelosi As A Muslim (4/4/2007 7:28:25 PM)

OK, you are making this big huge deal about Nancy Pelosi wearing a Hajib as a show of respect for a holy place, and all of a sudden this makes her somehow bowing to extremists? I am trying to understand your position, but if you choose not to communicate it, that is fine because I only have what you have posted to go on to deduce your position....

If you want to know what demanding people bow to extremists is about, try being a female in the military in Saudi Arabia just a few years ago... they were forced to wear complete and total modesty garments from head to toe that were almost as oppressive as a burka before one woman in the air force stood up to the military and demanded that she be able to wear her uniform... now Pelosi was not forced to wear the hajib... American military women used to be forced to wear worse

Seems the pentagon was prostrating themselves more than Pelosi[:D]

I'm not pretending to be anybody else, DC.  'Rich' is just fine.

And I'm not shocked at all, it's just the partisanship has taken over for a lot of people.  I'm only slightly more pissed at the Dems than I am the Repubs most of the time.
