pamela700 -> collar color significance? (5/8/2007 7:09:39 AM)

does anyone know of the significance of the color of a collar?

for instance, blue means under the protection of, as opposed to owned by?

my partner and i have been in and around the scene for all of our adult lives, over 20 years each, and have never heard of such.

your thoughts are appreciated!

Been in this for over 20 yrs as well & I don't know of anything like that.

I do know of the hanky-code so maybe someone somewhere is attempting to develop something similar.

All I know is if I see someone wearing a collar regardless to what color it is... I see that as a mark of owned/spoken for which translates off limits. In most venues you can't even make out colors because of the lighting.

In Old Guard traditional training, new sub wears a white collar, and it turns darker as they gain experience..whn it turns black it is time for them to leave the Temple....

Oh wait, that's just a bad kung fu gimmick.

Never mind

I've read that blue collars are "training" collars...but I've never seen that in practice real time.  I use what I like regardless of color.  A collar means owned and hands off to me.

story has been around a while. Originated from http://www.steel-door.com/Consideration_Collar.html ..... I will let you decide for yourself if that is an accurate source or if its just someone trying to sound impresive with the same old "I have secret knoledge passed down from the ancient european training houses" braging

If the collar is sort of brown or perhaps grey ...It means it might be dirty.

Sounds like a vague referance to the bandanna color thing.
But from what I know..and it could not be acurate, there are 3 collars. Consideration, trial and comittment. Basicly the stages of dating, going steady and marriage. And I do not think color has a meaning in a collar other than light blue being the sub color. I dont think color really matters, what matters is that a Dom is willing to place the collar on the sub, and the sub is willing to accept the collar.

Gets back to basics.

I'm sure you don't need one more testimony of color not mattering, but over a long discussion My Pet told me she prefers black... and humbly asked for hers to be black.

Were you thinking along the lines of karate belts (as was assumed here) or something like a handkerchief code, where different colored collars would signify different (how do I put this tastefully?) items are on the menu.

From what I understand, its old leather gard color code stuff.
But from what I have also heard is that was distorted from the stright BDSM world. The story I have read, and heard about is the gay community decided to make their own version of the color meanings, after the the stright community started it.
But I peronaly dont care one way or another.
I dont see the point.
