Status: offline 		Yes it is a shame to see them using "Mickey" to indoctrinate children to a point of view that we oppose.....This is of course about "land" as well as different cultures colliding within a small area.....Although I oppose the methodology I can understand why some Palestinians resent Israel as well as the U.S. in that we are linked at the hip and one without the other would not be capable of much of the misery that has been brought down upon the Palestinian people.

And although we publicly decry the human right violations of Israel....We have not stopped giving them billions of dollars...So what is the real message that we send to the Palestinians?

There are extremists from all of the groups mentioned in the above two quotes. It is futile to attempt to generalise the ideas and actions of a group (such as christianity) where millions of people belong to the group.

There are communists who advocate violence as a means of imposing their beliefs - ditto athiests, socialists, christians, jews, and muslims. Each group has moderate factions, however, who hold ideas but, crucially, value diversity of ideas providing the idea doesn't spill over into violence.

Personally, I don't have a problem with the athiests, christians, communists, libertarians etc, etc who are moderate and respect the right of others to hold opposing views. I do have a problem, however, with the extremists such as yourself, Firmhand, and probably 20% of the political posters on this board who think their idea warrants violence and war. In my mind, you're on a par with Pol Pot's foot soldiers - the only difference being that while you're supporting the leaders' cause which is killing and displacing millions of people (just as Pol Pot's supporters did), you're not prepared to take up arms for your cause.

As per my initial point, you're all as bad as each other i.e. all the extremists who feel obligated to kill or support the killing of people who hold opposing views.

Sure we can prop up the Iraqi army, but just like the mujahadein in afghanistan, they'll be shooting at us in a few years with the weapons we gave them....

Mellow, there ain't any democracy at home, which makes it all the more laughable.

Democracy is built on informed choice, and where the establishment don't provide the information from which make to make an informed choice, then there isn't a democracy. In Britain, I'd like to see direct democracy, bollocks to representative democracy as the evidence suggests they aren't remotely interested in representing us. Why not take turns to run the country, draw lots or pick names out of a hat on a monthly basis for the following month's government. That way, we'd all have a direct say in the running of our country. Ok, it could be fragmented and completely disjointed, but I'd be willing to take my chances - I'd rather have a say in running the country than be fed the current illusion of representation. The ancient Greeks coped quite well with this system. On the positive side, all people would buy into the well being of society as they'd feel truly involved in the running of the country. Consequently, I predict less crime, less anti-social behaviour and a greater sense of community. Of course, it sounds unmanageable because our leaders tell us that only they with their Eton education are capable of running the country. Well, fuck 'em. Get your name in a hat and let's share the ownership of the country on a rotating basis.

Islam is incompatible fundamentally with Western Democratic Principles.

That whole "All Men are Created Equal" thing really conflicts with their "My way - or the hiway" dogma, not to mention "Women are property", and "Unbelievers are lower than animals"...

Some would say that Bush is simply pissing up a rope.

The only time it's acceptable is if the enemy is literally at your door trying to kill you, and in the case of Iraq, that's certainly not the case. If someone was in my backyard telling me it's democracy or death, I'd be mighty pissed too.....

President Bush freed 50 million people in Iraq and Afghanistan, making him one of the greatest Presidents ever. It's funny how you Libs say it's our kids killing their children when it's obvious that we sent MEN over there to help bring them Democracy, and that it's primarily al-Qaeda (the Democrat Party ally) who indiscriminantly kills Iraqi civillians.
