For all us Europeans who appreciate music of debatable quality, this is the Eurovision thread!

Tonight are the preliminaries and on Saturday the finals. Who are you voting for? who gets to advance to the finals? and who wins?

I'm going to vote for the Ukranian transvestite with the aluminum thingy on his head tonight. It's a catchy tune.
So pour out your Eurovision thoughts here.

Edit: video included of the Ukranian performer http://youtube.com/watch?v=jnV7Nydf9L4

One of my favourites was from 1963 (I think). Les Sucettes, sung by France Gall and written by Serge Gainsbourg. It is claimed, though some doubt it, that France Gall didn't know what she was singing about, thinking it was just a bubblegum pop aong about sucking on a lollipop. However, every French speaker immediately understood she was singing about giving a blow job. According to legend, after the show she learnt what she was really singing about and disappeared for three weeks and never sang the song again.

Great spectacle for musical kitsch and mediocrity with some (very few) highlights over the years, namely ABBA for one. I watch with a gang of friends to see what new musical depths can be plummeted to each year.

We get that here in the U.S. too.
Sat. Night Live and other shows giving "Garage Bands" a shot on T.V.
Most of them are awful!
And they all have guitars.
