BINGO...I think that is what I grapple with most....living authentically in front of my kids re: 'the lifestyle.' As a novice to d/s I am a bit......well...um...unwilling to announce my preferences on the Little League loud speaker.

I see subtle variations on this theme..........Do you do vanilla style fornication in front of the children? Of course not. Do you take out an add to announce your speeding tickets in the local paper? I don't think it's a requirement to be flamboyant or exhibitional to live the life.........In fact, on another post here, everyday clothing was substantially defined as fetish....... However; in this continuum........somebody will say that's a must too. Endless introspection on these kinds of questions will rarely produce an astounding revelation.

Enjoy and revel in your newfound self. Get 'er Done. (smiles)

This is only my humble opinion, and may not be shared by many.

Sincerely,
Ron

Genetics..

Enviornmental issues can and do hold parts of ones self back or twist a person into a situation that is accepted but uncomfortable.

We are WHO and WHAT we are..

A "gay" person is WHO they are due to their genes NOT their up bringing.
A "Dom or sub" is just as much.

As a novice I can't help wonder if these sexual submissive preferences of mine are normal. What do u think? What is the answer to the age-old question of envirornment VS genetics?

I think the answer is "Yes." Genetics play a strong role in our personalities. Environment plays a strong role in our personalities. We are who we are, because of how we were brought up, but our genetic predisposition has a strong impact as well.

As for being normal, 'Dominance and Submission' relationships have existed from the beginning of life, in almost every form of interactive life. The idea that sexes are 'equal' is a starteling new concept in the whole scheme of evolution.
