A true sadist lacks sufficient empathy or sensitivity to identify a person with masochistic tendencies. There really are no TRUE sdaists in BDSM. Sadism is fundamentally non-consensual violence. That is, violation and consent are mutually exclusive. From what you describe, I imagine you might possibly see so far through sadistic tendencies and into the "receiver" (deep compassion/empathy) that you identify with it. Expand this awareness into all areas of your life and actions, and it can be quite a gift.
