I am posting this question on behalf of my master.  The problem is that he leaves me and my sister submissive at home alone all day with little to do besides chores. According to Master we have been good so far in doing our chores most of the time, but he would like to give us some training related activities that are more fun and interesting than chores. Maybe a study packet or lesson plan over some small topic where we could read and maybe even write a bit or role play with each other then ask master quesitons later about the subject.  A couple of topics he had suggested were like a formal tea service or using my skills as a belly dancer to choreograph a real live action save dance. Unfortunately he has no experience in creating things for a submissive to learn from in his absense as he ussually gives any lessons given himself. Anyone with experience at something like this please contact me or tell me where I might find information at thanks.

Wow, nothing to do but chores, and with two women doing them they should be finished in nearly no time. Why don't you and your sister give your spare time back to your community by volunteering? Children, animals, elderly people, and other good causes need your spare time! Something like that would be ongoing after you've learned your belly dancing and tea-service and are wondering what to do next.

Thats a great idea but niether me or my sister has a license at the moment, her for medical reasons, and me for legal reasons, and we live in a rather small and somewhat isolated community on the lake.

Ok I hear you... but how on earth are you going to be able to take dancing lessons, or any kind of lessons, if you can't even leave the house? That puts a gigantic constraint on learning potential right there. I don't blame you for slowly going out of your minds with lack of mental stimulation. The only thing I can think of under these circumstances are either dance videos, which you can order online, or taking long-distance college courses, which won't be directly serving your owner but perhaps making him more pleased with you by keeping you busy and giving you new skills.

I probably should have logged in under my own name.... Im Jason or Master of Reason however you perfer to address me as I dont believe titles before they are earned.  I am bella's Master and Cea's Mentor and I suppose this is my first poly household whilch has its own challenges... I asked her to post the question as it were because being rather pro-active I have already found and will soon enroll them in an online creative writing course for just the reason you mentioned self improvement and developing useful skillsets... The trick is this... if I could manage to develop some kind of modular training over various random topics... say designed to be an hour or two long with enough written materials and prepared research and possibly some activities designed to teach them what ever skill was at hand and could leave this with them to do during the day while Im at work and discuss with me later when I return.... well that would make me quite happy and would give them something more interesting to do than chores and more productive than watching television.  As far as the dancing goes she may not have made it clear but she is already a fairly profecient belly dancer and was taking classes for about 4 years. The trick is I would like to teach her the symbolism of slave dances and a bit about choreography something I admit I know next to nothing about so that she can combine her now fairly random belly dancing movements and techniques to produce a story dance of sorts.. a slave dance....

I understand your post and I simply love to teach so this appeals to me in many ways.  It would seem to me, you need to find someone to help you create the modules, such as an educator at a place of employment does.  If I can be of assistance, email me privately; I am sure something can be worked out.

Many charities need data entry and processing. Virtual assistant of sorts and that can easily be done from home. You might check to see if any in your area need that type of assistance.

Go to Borders.  Buy a whole bunch of books.  Read them all.  If you really want to write, write a book report.
Start running/swimming since you live on a lake
Try cross-stitching because god knows it takes me a week just to cross-stitch something simple.  That will definitely fill your time.
Try scrapbooking.
Try learning how to use something like photoshop.
Online classes sound like an awesome idea as well.

Take a look at some of the Butler's Guild websites they have great links to books on various forms of personal service.

http://www.amazon.com/Butlers-Household-Managers-Century-Professionals/dp/1591093066

This one has my interest at the moment, the subjects that a butler studies and learns about to reach a high level possition take years to learn and develop. So the course outline might be already set for you, at least as far as houshold management.

After that make a skills list for the more "pleasure/ entertainment" oriented things you would enjoy them knowing

I would make her chore to deal with getting a license and then some job skills so she can support herself in the future.  One hell of a lot more important than slave dances.

There are free online classes at a lot of sites. I have used www.thirdage.com  for a few on website development and html.

This is similar to something i posted in another thread. Wondering about useful skills that one slave might be able to instruct another slave in to aide in being more pleasing for you M

Right now i'm trying to learn about sports so that i can relate to, share with and communicate about them with my Master/Daddy.

Have you thought about cooking or baking? If your Master likes a certain type of food maybe you could enroll in some type of online course or peruse websites and find recipes that the two of you could try.

Also there could be learning about basic massage, regular and erotic and foot massage. Then write an essay on the things you learn as you learn them, try them on eachother and then have a "final exam" by trying them on your Master.

Right now my Daddy has me writing down my fantasies and this works on a few obvious levels. He learns more about what makes me tick and he gets a good story.

The idea about photoshop, to me is great, because that's something i do alot of and have learned alot about from my Daddy. i also use Dreamweaver and have been able to build a site for him as well as working on a BDSM site.

Jason, what kinds of things appeal to you? Do you want the girls to learn how to pamper you while also learning useful skills for for their future? Do you want them to expand their minds more? Be more creative? Letting them know these things may help you set them on the right track, or give some food for thought here on the boards. Just a suggestion.

Since I posted this question this morning I have set the girls about the task of research to make exactly the kind of training module I was talking about... this first one will be fairly tailored to bella and will be in the creation and composure of a slave dance for someone already fairly versed in tribal or ethnic dancing such as the belly dancing in which she was trained... I have started her by simply having her read the descriptions of as many slave dances as I can find and trying to find a common thread between them. While this is a start I would hope that several paralell little research projects might provide the foundation for lots of training in the future... the trick is that once they have done all the research there is little need for the prepackaged training that I am trying to create... but oh well perhaps it will be of use to others..

Think about telecommuting, for education, paid work, and/or volunteer labor. I'm a big fan of learning languages, but there are other good skills, I am sure--what do you want to do?

If your goal is to directly enrich the household, perhaps home-improvement projects are in order.

Read books! Read the "great books," the canonical works of the "Western Canon"--and if you like, non-western traditions too. This doesn't need to cost you anything: Project Gutenberg has public-domain texts of many classics ancient and modern, with English translations, accessible online. I'd advocate starting at the beginning of the written tradition and reading texts across the humanities (literature, religion, philosophy, natural philosophy) but you could tailor this to your interests.

What about having them learn how to plan and prepare delicious and healthful meals? They may already be great cooks, but it is really challenging to learn how to cook dishes from other cultures, etc. Since I have found myself at home fulltime for the moment due to a little hospital interlude, I have been trying to expand my cooking skills, and my husband has found dinner to be an adventure on more than one occasion.

The command is simple. Take some self initiative and do something that you like, within a particular time and money budget. Keep master advised of your activities. Or perhaps you are only interested in chores?

Amen, evidently that idea has too much common sense behind it to be considered.

In addition to Katy, what about gardening?  You could perhaps stock all of your non meat and drink needs straight from your own yard.
