I was planning a sensory activity invloving mineral oil and rubber gloves.  My question is this, will the oil interact in any way with the rubber?  I know that you're not supposed to use oil based lubricants with latex condoms because it will break down the latex.  If I use a heavy duty rubber glove and oil, will the same thing happen, or would it be safe to use.  I have looked into non-oil based lubes and it will not work with the planned activity.  Thank you.

If it's petroleum it will break down Latex.
For Petroleum based oils try a Butyl Rubber Glove or Nytril gloves if you need thin for deterity

Test the oil on the backhand of the latex glove. You should look for the color on the glove to smear or transfer on to what ever you use to apply it (like a q-tip) as well as deterioration of the glove itself.

If the non-oil based lubes won't work then look to the industrial grade gloves that can withstand the oil based product.

I might be better able to advise you if I knew exactly what it was that you were doing but from the sound of it... maybe I have an idea but I would need to know for sure.... care to expand? (eh-hehe, no pun intended)

instead of mineral oil...consider olive oil...then who cares what the gloves are made from?

You might check out the "Glove Compatability Charts" Most glove companies have them.
Here's a link  http://www.ehs.ufl.edu/Lab/CHP/gloves.htm
