Status: offline 		Dunno... my immediate thought to statements like that (and it is reactionary, I will give you that) is something along the lines of "... well, you won't need to be fucking me then.  I wont buy into the game of self worth by physical blessings, nor do I want to be with a guy who is so easily manipulated by that game (or thinks so little of me to try it on me)"   ... well that and... "really, what did you slip in her drink?"

And to be honest, I don't think most men are necessarily in-synch with that line of reasoning.  I know that as recently as this year I've heard male friends go off on a rant about the "brilliance" of spreading rumors about their successes with other women as a means of luring or otherwise enticing females ... I assume by advertising their "prowess," or something along those lines.  I can't really say whether or not I've ever seen this tactic successfully employed, though.

There is certainly the ego-posturing that goes on amongst male peers, but I think that's motivated by different reasons ... I assume you're largely asking why a man will directly say this to a woman.  In groups of men, there's always a bit of subtle competition going on, and everyone knows it ...

"My car is faster ..."
"My computer is more powerful ..."
"I've slept with more pretty girls ..."

And so on.  It's a power-play, or at least an attempt at vying for further respect despite the fact that it usually backfires.  :)

Status: offline 		I believe that addage, on it's own is a crock of shit as well.  We all have preferences, physically... I just think it can get wacked out of control sometimes... and it is even worse when it is manipulated to make a partner feel less, and then somehow more 'lucky' to have you...

Do women ever do this?   I admit, that the few occasions that i  considered a partner who was not local, i seemed to find it necessary to point out that there were local men who desired me, but that i did not find them suitable. I imagine thats a type of insecurity in itself.

Status: offline 		it's called  "all the pretty women want me but i can settle for you until another woman who is prettier than you comes along" mentality.  it stokes their ego when a "non"pretty worships the ground he walks on yet he'll treat her like dirt in front of his friends and/or model types. i met a guy (not from here) who was like that.  he made it quite known that i wasn't the type of woman he wanted hanging out with him at the clubs ...he didn't date "fat" women so meeting me was to help with my self esteem. lol - i dumped him in a heartbeat.

I would try reverse psychology on you. Beautiful words, a poem or two, lavish praise, politeness, consideration ,concern, interest, admiration on my part, a certain appealing uncertainty and then I would fuck the arse off you LOL.

Status: offline 		Does anyone remember the Seinfeld episode where George had a picture of a beautiful woman, I think maybe it was a friend of Elaine's, and he put it in his wallet.  When he saw pretty women he would find a reason to open his wallet and "accidentally" let them see it.  He would tell them that it was his former girlfriend who was dead.  The women would then think that because he had already had a woman that beautiful that he was on their level and in the club.  In fact, I think that there was even a club that beautiful women went to in the episode.  Then he lost the picture and wasn't getting the beautiful women to go out with him anymore.

I think this is what the guys who use those lines are going for.  They are thinking that if they have been with one or two beautiful women that it will make them more attractive to women in general.

Status: offline 		There is something to all of this....Let's say that I was banging Puella and we were out and about, after she had blown me on the el enroute to our destination. So we are in a cute little boutique purchasing her a gigamous butt plug, when she says, "Look there is my ex!"  I turn and I see this guy who looks like a cross between Quasimoto and a rotting dead corpse....I would think to myself, "what in the fuck!....Puella is one twisted and sick fuck."  I know this shouldn't bug me but I would wonder how this is possible that she could've ever been with this guy? Of course the topper is when she says that he broke up with her....Because she wasn't up to his standards.
