Master and i have registered for O/our festival passes and are eagerly looking forward to taking in as many of the films and events as W/we can squeeze in.  Just curious if any others here from the central AR area are planning to attend and, if so, which films/types of films are of most interest to you?  slave luci

lol...i'm not a native Arkansan so i hadn't heard them before.  Plus, i guess it's easier to find the humor in them since i don't take it personally not having been born and raised in Arkansas.  Yeah, they're a bit mean and stereotypical but just so clever i couldn't resist laughing.  The funniest part, though, is that even though people think Arkansas is so backward, Little Rock is a wonderful city full of lots of cultural attractions.  i have been very impressed and look forward to enjoying more of it.  This film festival has got some great documentaries and W/we can't wait!    slave luci

I made them up....True, they are but parodies of every stereotype when one thinks of Arkansas...So they are a tad bit redundant.

I was recently in Mountain Home...I don't have too many nice things to say about the area or the people I met there.

Actually I thought your earlier post was funny. I just wanted to tease you a bit.

Yes Mountain Home...........well........you didn't visit the right part of the state now did ya? Actually most of the people that live in Mountain Home are from up North. Alot of people come here to retire (I have no idea why). You should have came closer to my neck of the woods. It's beautiful, clean, very southern but not so "get r done" red neck.

You are right that many of the people who live there are from up North....There is nothing like getting up in the morning to go fish on Lake Norfork..Confederate flags blowing in that clean morning air and boneheads walking around in their..."Get r done" ballcaps and t's.....It was there that I learned that "Larry the Cable Guy" even existed...That day will live with me forever..A touching, life affirming moment.

We were staying at a friends home purchased by his grandfather....Moved there to escape the black people who had moved into his neighborhood in Chicago....See not all racism in the South is homegrown...You even attract some transplants...lol.

I really don't know why the South makes me uneasy...I see slaveluci lives in Central Ark and you dwell in the boonies....Hope all is well with my Southern bro's and ho's.....

Have fun at the film festival....Maybe they will have some free give aways....Like a trip to the dentist or something....

Take care.

Well domiguy.....W/we had a blast at the film festival but, damn it, no free trip to the dentist.  A few films really stood out as great but the absolute best was a documentary about Jim Jones and his creation of Jonestown (oddly enough called "Jonestown"...lol) and what went on there.  Featured prominently in the film were a couple of men who escaped the massacre but who lost family members.  They said it was absolutely not a mass suicide but murder.  Contrary to what most people think, it wasn't a bunch of mindless fanatics lining up to voluntarily "drink the kool-aid," they were forced at gunpoint to do so.  It was an absolutely fascinating portrait of Jim Jones from his youth up through his death.  i highly recommend it.....luci
