Sub or Slave - 5/15/2007 12:23:44 AM

Over the last several months, I have been chatting with a couple of d-types.  It is pretty easy to be open and honest, if you have no plans for commitment or any r/t interaction.  I knew that I was submissive, but they have begun to tell me that I have 'slave tendencies'.  What does that mean exactly?

What are the things that you see in a submissive that make you decide that they would be happier as a slave, rather than a sub?

It just means that you are showing to them that you want someone to take total control over you. You probably are the type who wants to please and show a great deal of devotion. Just becareful however of others who tell you what you are. Only YOU know yourself and some of these people will tell you the wrong thing and sometimes not for the best reason.

Be careful,

The terms get blurred by some people.  Personally, I call my pet "slave" when she's being bad (on purpose of course).  I know thats not accurate but the rules are blurry in our world.

ANYWAYS... Subs will please Doms but have more say than slaves.  A slave is usually told what to do and does it.  No questions asked.  Slaves will tend to find themselves pleasing Masters in more direct ways.  Meanwhile subs can please Masters in many ways.  I find myself to be a daddy Dom a lot of the time, and my sub brings me the most pleasure by being a little girl... She'll play on swings and order from the kid's menu.  Slaves usually don't act that way.

In my experience a real "slave" will be engaging in more hardcore aspects of BDSM...

Like I said, people blur the lines.  Myself included.

Edit: Text was too big =P (Also it was supposed to be a response to the OP)

I tend to see it is come-ons just like...

"your eyes are the prettiest I've ever seen... prettier than most"

Wait until you start saying no & you get called a fake.

To be honest.... No offense to either submissives or slaves when I say this but the two words have become so blurred in their meanings that either can mean just about anything the bearer of the title wishes it to mean. One is no better, no more committed or more intense than the other.

Best thing you can do is define who you are.

Don't look at these terms as goals to strive for... such as someone says anyone can be a submissive but it takes someone special to be a slave.... bahhhh.

You are as unique as everyone else posting on this board. You have a wondrous adventure ahead of you as you begin to discover many things about yourself.

Enjoy

Cant tell you what "They" mean by it, unless I have the definition they use for each term.

If you get them to give you their definitions, for each then you might get a little closer to understanding what they mean and where they see the "tendancies".

Usually it means they are trying to flatter you and make you feel special so you'll be more endeared towards them.

Its could mean two things.
1. They are telling you what they "think" you want to hear for their own gains.
2. They are telling you that your submissiveness is at such a deep "true" level that you would make a good slave.

Now the question is do they even know what a slave is and their responsiilitys.

It appears tho from your wording that you are engaging in a "internet" relationship where it is easy to be submissive as they are not right in front of you , Reality is indeed a lot different   and a lot more rewarding.

It means that you fit their definition of what a slave is. If you want to know the details of that definition, you'll have to ask them because they differ from person to person.

Sheesh, the differences are so obivous though:

Subs fly south every winter, where they live in trees and make cookies.  Be sure to spray your home for subs seasonally, as they can cause significant structural damage.

Slaves are made of candy and shed their skin every 2 years.  Slaves come out at night to feed on the flesh of the living, but if you catch one, it will grant you three wishes.

Good lord! not again. A sub is a slave who says they are a sub, and a slave is a sub who says they are a slave...it's that simple.

I agree with most of what's been written so far.  Here's my view of the difference (we all have our own opinions, though.)

Imagine that a significant decision needed to be made that would affect both your lives.  Your Dominant asked your opinion because, being an important decision, he wanted as much information as he could get in order to make the best decision he could.

Now, imagine that he didn't seem to consider your opinion, and his decision was WRONG.  In fact, his wrong decision caused you both trouble.  Neither the submissive nor the slave would say, "I told you so."  The difference?  The slave wouldn't think it either.

I haven't the foggiest ideas what an individual BDSMer means when he or she uses the terms. Sometimes it seems as though "submissive" and "slave" are interchangeable--at the very least, they are moving, overlapping targets. I'd suggest that you ask the person who is using the term what he or she means by it.
