I got this in my email today and thought I'd share. Hardest thing was to determine what section to put it. It's not humor, and definatly not "random stupidity"; I put it here, but I'm hoping for some it's not too far "off topic".

What does Love mean?
A group of professional people posed this question to a group of 4 to 8 year-olds, "What does love mean?" The answers they got were broader and deeper than anyone could have imagined. See what you think:

"When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint her toenails anymore.

So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That's love."

Rebecca- age 8
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different.

You just know that your name is safe in their mouth."

Billy - age 4
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne and they go out and smell each other."

Karl - age 5
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French fries without making them give you any of theirs."

Chrissy - age 6
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Love is what makes you smile when you're tired."

Terri - age 4
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK."

Danny - age 7
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Love is when you kiss all the time. Then when you get tired of kissing, you still want to be together and you talk more.
My Mommy and Daddy are like that. They look gross when they kiss"

Emily - age 8
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen."

Bobby - age 7 (Wow!)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate,"

Nikka - age 6 (we need a few million more Nikka's on this planet)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it everyday."

Noelle - age 7
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still friends even after they know each other so well."

Tommy - age 6
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"During my piano recital, I was on a stage and I was scared. I looked at all the people watching me and saw my daddy waving and smiling.

He was the only one doing that. I wasn't scared anymore."

Cindy - age 8
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"My mommy loves me more than anybody .

You don't see anyone else kissing me to sleep at night."

Clare - age 6
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Love is when Mommy gives Daddy the best piece of chicken."

Elaine-age 5
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Love is when Mommy sees Daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is handsomer than Robert Redford."

Chris - age 7
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day."

Mary Ann - age 4
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new ones."

Lauren - age 4
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little stars come out of you." (what an image)

Karen - age 7
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Love is when Mommy sees Daddy on the toilet and she doesn't think it's gross."

Mark - age 6
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"You really shouldn't say 'I love you' unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget."

Jessica - age 8
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And the final one -- Author and lecturer Leo Buscaglia once talked about a contest he was asked to judge. The purpose of the contest was to find the most caring child.

The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife.

Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman's yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there.

When his Mother asked what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy said,

"Nothing, I just helped him cry"

I actually think it's completely on topic actually. It speaks of the deep levels of emotions created with close bonds. The relationships we develop in WIITWD can potentially enable us to develop such close bonds.

LadyAngelika: I completely agree. There is a higher level of trust and communication required to be present on this level and I couldn't agree with you more. I think it's quite on topic as too.

And as an aside it sets those little maternal instincts a-flarin... I can't wait to hear what comes out of the mouths of my children.

Love is when someone you're close to makes you feel so fulled up and happy and content and like you could do anything in the world cause they back you.

Love is when you fall on vacation and skin both knee's your hands and you're screaming* crying* your head off and your dad drops everything to race over and to comfort you, pick you up and put bactien on your knee's and hands, and then all the rest of the trip make sure you're ok and your dog don't trip you getting in an out of car.

Love is when your mate see's you at your grossest, lowest, painfullest moment , worstest and still likes you.,

Loves when you groom your dog and he's absolutely terrified but he lays still and even gives you kisses later, even after all that imagained picking on.

Love's someone being willing to comfort you when you're deadly sick and almost just barfed on them.

Which I've done. I was with my now x in a casino and I got violently ill and he had one second to step away before I projectial vomited almost all on him. he got out of the way fortunatly.

love is holding the warm sleeping body of a baby, and listening to them breath, or cuddling a puppy and it falls asleep to your rocking, Or shareing your bed with a furry bed hog of a dog at 1 am cause it's storming and he's cold and afraid.

sitting in a one person love seat with him in your lap to big to be up there leg asleep and dying cause you just groomed him and it chose that day to pour rain.

Love is when your neighbors lil 4 y.os shout out your name and say we Chris Chris, love you chris out of the clear blue!

Love is not minding if somoene hogs the pillows or the blanket as long as you can still roll over and put your arms around them while they sleep.

Love is waking up 10 minutes early to watch someone else sleep for a little while.

And strangely enough, I think love might be missing the sound of someone's snoring when they are a very long distance away, bcasue at least when they snore, that means they are next to you.

*sigh*
dont mind me, I miss someone tonight,

DV

Love is seeing your 15 month old nephew come home from the nursey and hold his arms out for you..  Just makes those warm fuzzies all over and brings sweet tears to your eyes.

This was a wonderful post.

It's worth every extra tax dollar that a single person has to pay for that day care sniff..snifff...

NAHhhhh just teasing. I don't mind. All for one and one for all. Just wish it it went all the way to the top income bracket.

Other peoples kids are great! Long as I can get away.

*smiles* Master loves hearing me snore....because it means there is someone here with Him even when He can't sleep

While I was asleep on the couch one day He ran me a lovely bath with bubbles, lit candles, made me a drink and then gently woke me and led me to the bathroom, where I had a lovely long soak. I felt so special

When you wake from a bad dream, to feel His arms around you, holding you tight - and Him saying "It's all right, you're safe" and you know it's true........

When you wake in the night, to see Him sitting there watching you (He has insomnia) and knowing He has been watching you sleep for hours - and see His lips mouth "I love you".

Him turning down an offer from another woman to ease His loneliness while I was away in a different country - and telling me about it in an email.........

Taking turns snuggling into each other's backs all night, feeling His arms around me....I feel so safe when He's there, I haven't had any nightmares for a few months now........

Going down to the 7/11 in my faded jeans and my hair all mussed, to get Him some flavoured milk to boost His blood sugar, because He can't face food first thing in the morning.

Driving me to the dentist and waiting in the car for me, just in case I don't feel up to driving home. When He probably feels worse than I do. Because He says I should have someone with me, even if I think I don't need it.

When your Master who suffers from insomnia stays out in the lounge and lies down on the couch so you can get some unbroken sleep - even if He misses snuggling into you (don't tell Him I told you willya, real Masters don't snuggle )
