So I find that the BDSM world and the SCA world tend to overlap quite a bit, and I was wondering exactly how much.

I met my Mentor in the SCA. We are members of the same house, which is not a Lifestyle house, but has others of the Lifestyle in it besides us. My Mentor has played in the SCA in four states and there are boat loads of people in each kingdom who are either in the Lifestyle or Lifestyle aware.

Been to one my entire life - Next to watching reality tv or the dumb-ass sitcoms, I can't think of anything more boring.

Although it's been many years, I was once an SCA member - I have fond memories of one Pennsic (XXIV? I think) of attending a munch, and leading a male friend around on a collar and leash for part of the time :-)

Pennsic War. god, i miss going to that War. It has been many many moons since i have been to it. i wonder if Vlad still has the auctions at His campsite on Friday and Saturday Nights. i paid the price that last year i went but it was well worth it once i ended up getting home. It made life alot more interesting in the house.

You forgot to add people who are fluent in Klingon...Just another delusion....And people wonder why there is no unification within this "lifestyle."

LOL  Vlad.....do you remember Swamp Mist?

I used to camp down near the classic swimming hole with the Revelwood crowd.

wow someone took this poll waaaay too seriously.... there is a reason why this is in the random stupidity i am by no means saying if you are in the lifestyle you HAVE to be in fairs... hell i even gave that as an option in my poll.    I think there is no unification because people can get too snarkey at the way other people live their lives, not because someone asks if anyone attends Ren fairs.

Youre not fully committed, unless you wear period costume to the gas station, to the pub and around the town, and revel in the everyday types gawping open mouthed at you. For extra points, you take a pewter tankard to the pub too, and argue over weights and measures with the bar staff, whilst trying to smoke a clay pipe.

But sometime it is half the fun to walk around in garb just to get those strange looks Lady Ellen.

i use to own my own pewter, but somehow with all the moves i have done and everything. i lost most of all that i had. Eventually, once i have the time again. i will be getting them again and returning to have fun once more within the SCA. The one pass time that i seemed to enjoy besides reading and sewing.

I hear you!  I'm sorta regret that I drifted away from doing that kind of thing.  I've thought a couple times about getting involved in the SCA again, but it's hard to find the free weekend time between school and work.

I am also a member of Adrian Empire...an off shot of SCA.  We use "Live Steel" althought SCA is bringing back Rapiers.  I also belong to a Guild that does Renaissance Faires and this last weekend We were give a "Letter of Appreiation" from the Promoters for all Our hard work and Support.

I think my most memorial event in public was one morning before going to an IHOP for breakfast.  I was in a Tunic, a friend was just wearing an Irish Lean, and Our girlfriends were in bodices that well, I would say about 80% just hanged out.  We were seated in a booth which a large picture window that was between the main dining room and the waiting area.  I remembe all through Our breakfast, We would look to the window and see all the kids looking at Us or rather the Wenches.  When I am My Irish Friend got up We got our looks as well, mostly from other Men.  We took it in with great humor.

Greetings Nosathro,

Those looks are great. At least Your girl was in a bodice and not dance garb with bells and the whole belly chain, bracelets and everything.

God i miss those days . Well one day i will return to that. Redoing my garb collection and bells. Still have my slave bells which sit on my desk just waiting.

greetings dreamgirl

Well, now that you mentioned it.  A girlfriend was in middle east grab with all the bells and such and wearing my collar.  My tunic is that of a Norman Knight.  We left camp one night to get some things for a Feast Our Camp was having.  We were in the Check out Line and my girlfriend was behind me, a woman behind us notied her outfit and collar and asked her what was all this about.   My girlfriend did not break her char and told the woman she was captured and enslaved by me, when the Normans attacked her village.  This woman took all of it seriously and started yelling at me.  I simply responded "She is the spoils of war", paid for the food and grab her and out the store.  We both laughed out loud all the way back to the camp.

Be Well

Nosathro
