I have to say I agree with N4.

I was certainly no friend to Jerry--his ridiculous words came under attack frequently in my writing--but this thread is in poor taste (and doesn't belong on the humor board either).

Nope. I have no problem with intolerance. To not tolerate intolerance is to be intolerant. And to not tolerate the non-toleration of intolerance of others who claim to be tolerant and intolerant of intolerance is equally intolerant. So I choose to be utterly tolerant of all walks of life, be they tolerant, intolerant, intolerantly tolerant, or a combination of them. I'm even tolerant of my own intolerance.

that pretty much sums it up. However, truth be told, I can't recall ever speaking ill of Mr. Falwell. Not my style. I may have decried his views, but, I don't make it a habit to speak ill of any man, woman, or child... unless they're within earshot and able to rebut anything I may say. Call it my "non-high-school" mentality, if you must label it.

Jerry Falwell was the Christian right's megaphone of radical intolerance. We did tolerate him...enough...sometimes too much and to our dismay. May he rest in peace and his intolerance...with him.

Ditto here... unless I'm just having a general rant about my day and the nincompoop drivers I've encountered

. IMO if someone offends you, tell them while they can explain themselves (or stick the other foot in their mouths, as the case may be), or be quiet and keep your peace until you meet your maker.

Mind you, there is a difference between talking about someone's public behaviour ("Did you see what Aunt Doris and the Milkman were doing in her front yard?!?!?"

) versus talking about someone in general (aka malicious gossip - "Did you hear what Nathan saw as he passed by Stephan's window?

The perv!").

amen to the tolence and acceptance difference, alot confuse the 2.

on a side note... I read an articule, in one of those damn office waiting rooms so I forget which magazine, but anyway Jerry actually expressed some regret for his intolerent views, even said if he had to do his life over again he would make a few changes concerning his condemnations and political career because only God can sit in judgement of anothers life choices... I am still looking for the articule.... or maybe I just imagined it....
