This is a two part question for all of the submissives and slaves out there in honor of Akasha and the ladies who posted in her recent thread. I hope the Mistresses will find the responses interesting and will share their thoughts on them as well. 1. What things have you gone out of your way to learn in order to better serve your Mistress? 2. What things have you learned from your present or former Mistress that you feel have made you a better submissive? An example for an answer to question #1 is that I learned Reflexology in order to better serve a former Mistress and all of those I've served since have benefitted as well. Ditto for taking classes and learning more about Therapeutic Massage, which initially started as self massage to meet my own needs as a cyclist and later moved into something to serve the needs of the woman in my life. I could say the same about classes and I've taken in investments and options trading; along with the additional follow-up research, not to forget the active trading I've done since then. As for #2, examples would be that I learned the proper way to do a pedicure and manicure from a former Mistress. Another example would be that I am learning to fully accept my deepest submissive desires without any guilt or shame about them from my new Mistress. She has released things in me which I was unsure of that I've taken to like a duck takes to water! As part of the process, she has been teaching me to be proud that they are an innate part of me, that I can share them with her as her pet/slut, and that doing so serves her desires/needs to be the dominant in our relationship. [:)] I'll post more of my thoughts and responses to my questions later in the thread after others have had the opportunity to reply to them. [:D]

I have no knowledge or training in this area, but I am very good with numbers, math, etc. and was useful in this way to Her. I self taught to learn the terminology, and understand Her assignments. Pixie slave, that's a really good question to post. I've often heard that being a male submissive the competition is fierce, that apparently it's extremely difficult to find a Domainant Woman. However, speaking from the woman's point of view I have to say that it's REALLY difficult finding a submissive or slave of quality. When subs or slaves have told me that they are having problems finding someone to serve I learned from a friend to ask them what they have to offer. I'm not accussing them but I am asking them what they have as a skill set. People do things like do their hair, work out, buy expensive things...but one can also take cooking classes, learn massage, learn how to give manicures and pedicures...etc. The subs that I know that are owned by others seem to have a really good skill set. Most dominants that I know that own happy and healthy slaves also seem to have a large skill set. It works both ways in my opinion.

Like you, Pixelslave, i was required to learn reflexology and how to give a decent pedicure. i was also required to learn about my former Mistress's home town (Seattle, though She was living in the UK when i served Her). Mistress Herself taught me a great deal, including how to properly appreciate food and what constitutes a healthy diet (She actually changed my diet and made me write down everything i had to eat and drink for a month or so She could monitor how i was doing). She also made me more "environmentally friendly"! i took it upon myself to learn more about Burlesque theatre (as Mistress was and is a Burlesque performer). She always said She liked to leave Her slaves better then She found them and that certainly applies to me.

I hate this thread seemed to have died out. Come on subs and slaves....enlighten the dominants.... I learned from my dom when I was collared so long ago...how to tie the rope the right way so it's not a tangled mess in the toy bag. Hm...seems I should be able to come up with something else.....S but he really was very easy going.

Well, pixel, I'll try to help out. It seems like a very basic thing, but I always want My boys learning about the lifestyle itself. I want them reading different things and hearing opinions other than My own. If they are brand new, I'll have them read for an hour a day, either from books or sites that are related. It isn't necessarily a new skill, but it is something I want them to learn.

I'm having the boy do research about different sorts of play (he's fairly new to the lifestyle). His ex taught him to give great footrubs. I'm expanding on that by taking him to get pedicures so that he can give them to me. We have a ladies tea group here that does trainings twice a year for servers and he has been informed that he will be attending that. He's slowly being put on food and exercise requirements to make him healthier. I plan on having him start writing in a journal to improve his writing skills and to become more adept as to thinking about why he feels certain ways about things. I love formal service type things so I plan on having him learn/read about the proper way to set a formal table as well as how to get things REALLY clean. I'm also trying to get him more organized since he tends to be a bit forgetful and a procrastinator, so I put time requirements on his tasks, he must make lists and write them down when I inform him of tasks or things to pick up or do... Wow, writing it all down it seems like a lot.

Wow, I'm liking the ideas here. I am also seeing some of the things I can do and never thought about it as a skill. I used to date a number of men who were always trying to impress me with this or that. My favorite response was: 'If you want to impress me, set the table!' You'd be surprized how many set a table incorrectly.

I said I'd post back in a couple days with more of my thoughts. First, thanks to the ladies who've jumped-in to discuss what they've assigned their subs to learn. I found that very enlightening. [&:] As I've recently begun a new relationship with a Mistress I met here on CM, I've been learning a great deal from her both about myself and my submission. She recently asked me if she was meeting my needs and at the time I really didn't quite know what to say because of a number of other things going on outside my control that often seem to get in the way of other things. In short, I've been in an extended legal battle with a former Mistress over custody/vistitation with my unmentionables that has been very difficult and draining both emotionally & financially. [>:] Last weekend, Mistress gave me a wonderful gift that told me I had needs I hadn't realized or even had a clue just how strongly they needed filled.
