FR: It isn't just women who are trying to make a living out of bdsm, there are also men out there trying it as well. I do think it's more prominent however with females because of the obvious supply and demand thing. Women have always been more successful selling sexual stimulation than men. Alot of men (not all!) for various reasons can't get laid, so at the very least they can pay for some two-dimensional cardbord cut-out for their masturbatory fantasies. I think if something sells well and people are upfront about what they are selling, there is really no harm in it in general, however I do believe that it does bastardize what I feel should be a very deep and meaningful relationship. It makes a mockery of it and a role play of it. I also think in some cases it does exploit some people who frankly are not that bright. Unfortunately alot of men and women get caught up in the fantasy of illusion, doctored photos on a screen, and some hot words rattling on with some rote drivel about "earning slave status and proving devotion". In a lot of these cases, The "select few" who actually make "slave status" with these pros are those who pay the largest tributes for someone on the other end of the phone or website basically faking a personal relationship in exchange for a paycheck. Somehow to me that seems corrupt. Personally I think its more honorable just to sell an out and out fuck, like a whore on a street corner. At least its real. The thing that makes me wonder is how do the pros pull their heads out of it and then go about their realtime relationships in a genuine manner after they're done roleplaying on the phone or cam with their 'clients'. I would think the lines would become blurred and it would be hard to know where the acting ends and the genuine feelings begin. I think cyber, phone or even realtime domination with a pro could begin to feel like a fiction that a person starts to believe is real....on BOTH ends. That's where I think the danger of it comes in. You can't fake something on a regular basis without it beginning to change you from the inside out, unless these pros are actually developing real relationships with authentic feelings for their clients. Personally, I wouldn't want to be on either end of the deal myself; it would be far too easy to get lost in something so emotionally invoking. But for some, maybe it's a release of sorts to buy such a service. At any rate, none of the so called pros that I've seen around look too wealthy, so I don't know how lucrative it is, but it seems to be the hip new entreprenurial thing to do.
