I know that this has been discussed before, but was hoping for some fresh imput. I am looking for plans or specs to build a spanking bench, prefferably folding or easily broken down.

So far, the best web resource I have found is Sartans Workshop.

I have a couple of metal saw horses with legs that are attached to the top by braided wire. They slip out and fold away into the top. I was thinking of maybe trying to convert one of these. Any ideas are greatly appreciated

One of My favorite pieces is a Black and Decker WorkMate.
While it isn't exactly what your are looking for, it makes a great alternative and is very vanilla sitting around the shop or the garage, folds down for storage or travel and has a ton of not so vanilla uses.

I use my large Craftsman rolling toolbox. It's hard plastic and I think is called the Sit and Stand or something like that. It's actually about 2 feet tall and has two large inner trays plus a roomy bottom for all our toys, I just remove the toys and trays before play time replace the lid and spank away. I've even seen a vanilla vendor who drilled holes and added bolts for his booth to the bottom and immediately I thought they were tie downs. My boy usually wears his kneepads anyhow as he is older but they come in handy when he's bent over this thing. I bend him over it and tie him down by running either nylon webbing or leather strap under the toolbox and then I clip his cuffs to the ends. His bodyweight keeps him from pulling out.
