At work, they are training me in the bakery department, decorating cakes, etc etc...during the day shifts, I work with a nice young lady who happens to be deaf...even though I don't know sign language, we communicate pretty well and have a wonderful time working together...There's a guy we work with who thinks it's funny to stand behind her and make fun of her, the way she speaks, etc etc...he asked her once to answer the phone knowing damn well she couldn't...he's a real asshole...what gets me is that he complains that she gets special attention because of her handicap but complains all the time how difficult it is for his girlfriend (who also works with us) to work long hours because it's hard to stand on her feet (because she weighs over 400 pounds)[8|] I got sick of him talking shit today that I told him "well, maybe if they got your girlfriend out of the bakery department she wouldn't have trouble standing on her legs being she eats more than she puts out in the cases" lol...well, he always complains that the girl who is deaf doesn 't pull trays out of the oven but she cannot hear the buzzer go off so when he was baking pies he lost track of time and went on his break as well as I did...leaving her there alone...he comes back in a hurry thinking he burnt his pies lol in reality she took them out for him and packaged them..he was surprised and wondered how she knew when to do so..she set her watch to go off on vibrate when the pies were done and she could have easily let them burn and get him written up for that......he gave her a hug and thanked her because one more write up and he would have been suspended lol...I think that little act of kindness woke him up because after work he gave her a ride home and was kind to her.....sometimes, one little act of kindness can change someone....let's hope it sticks lol.
