Someone of this household for some bizarre reason decided to microwave fully cooked biscuits in order to heat them up. They put the biscuits in on full power (10) for five minutes. Lo and behold the biscuits exploded!!

Anyone know how to get rid of the burnt smell?

After cleaning the exploded goop off of everywhere I have tried leaving the door open, leaving it shut with a box of baking soda in it, all to no avail.

Any tips would be appreciated !

No doubt the burnt smell was transferred into the inner workings of the microwave by the fan system as well.....

How about a mixture of vinegar and water in coffee mug, half full till it bubbles and let it sit. Then wipe all clean... Repeat a few times....

Make sure all the baking soda residue is cleaned off before trying this.

I had to laugh when I read this....because someone in my house put a bag of microwave popcorn in the microwave and set the time for 10 minutes! I had no idea they had done this until I saw a cloud of rolling smoke coming down the stairs. The bag was on fire and had been for a minute or two by the looks of it! The inside of the microwave was blackened and the smell was just terrible! I worked on it for a couple of hours and tried everything I could think of for the smell. With one last resort effort, I put a little Oregano oil extract in a bowl of water and boiled the heck out of it, and it worked! I had heard of a hog confinement company putting Oregano oil in their pits to almost completely control the smell, and it was working for them. So I was glad I thought of it, but mad I didnt think of it first! Good Luck!

should I microwave the vinegar and water?

I have never heard of oregano oil but will look in Publix when I go shopping this week.

Thanks for the suggestions!

You can find oregano oil at about any health food store. Make sure it has been processed "cold extraction", and not some other. That goes for any extracts and oils you buy even in the health food stores.

I've had good luck with vinegar/water myself. My microwave smeled like vinegar for awhile, but it was preferable.
