Is there an explaination to why pain becomes laughter? Sometimes when playing her cries and moans turn to laughter. No matter how hard or more sever I get it becomes laughter. She doesn't mean to she wants to enjoy things as much as I do but for some reason the pain turns to laughter and ruins everything. It's not a bratty thing where shes goading me it's more like an involuntary action. Does it have something to do with endorphins or the bodies way of dealing with the physical trauma? Or is there a less involved answer?

Because reactions, especially in scenes, are irrational. Some people laugh at funerals. It could be just how she handles the emotional stress of the situation. i know i start laughing when i'm really nervous or sometimes just break down sobbing. It's not anything i can control and i never know how i'm going to react, it just happens.

When I used to get beat up in school I'd start laughing, not sure why. It almost felt like it protected me from the real pain I was experiencing... almost a way of transforming the moment into something I could passively enjoy instead of focusing on the torment XD.

My grandfather did the very same thing..anytime he was hurt even rather severely, he would burst into uncontrollable laughter..This is not uncommon, it has much to do with endorphins and the brains ability to handle what is happening...not much you can do about it..it just is....Tempting

Dear WiseCracknSadist, Ladies and Gentlemen; Many good links have been offered in regard to the question of a masochist being administered sadistic pain, which causes a person to go into laughter or crying. These two extremes are involuntary and how the body handles it. The body's cocktail with all the chemicals from adreniline, endorphines and emotions, to include the way you react will influence individuals having their masochist moments. I find myself laughing along as I administer pain. I realize that the masochist is beyond their control and the body is having a high on pain. Just some thoughts. Great answers as to the why it occurs. My question is why is the laughter ruining everything?

It ruins it because it's not the reaction that I want. I'll be getting the reaction I want then things will switch. I guess I can't switch gears like that. It's frustrationg and I do try to be understanding. Sometimes we take a break then try something new.

Just simply enjoy the sadomaso laughter and have fun with it. Just because you're being sadistic does not mean you have to maintain a mean composure, your masochistic victim does not have to be scared and fearful and crying either. I've enountered a number of people that simply laugh like hell when are in pain. Hell, there are times when I myself start laughing when I'm in pain. OOooo Oooooo that hurts! Hahahaha... Damn that Hurt.. Hahahahaha... Hey at least you are getting a reaction, it might not be type of reaction you are expecting. Then again, you can only control the pain and not the reaction to the pain. You should be more open minded to the reality that pain will cause different reactions in different people. This is simply reality and perhaps you should think about how you are going to adjust to it. If you can't adjust to it, then perhaps you should considered in only being with somebody that gives you the reaction you are expecting. In short you need to make up your mind if your Expectations are realistic or not, and if the person and their reactions met your expectations. The person laughing is not trying to be defiant towards you, it's simply their natural reaction to pain. You need to either wrap your brain around this or get another partner that does not laugh. Personally, I love it when somebody laughs their ass off. It actually makes things a little more interesting and a bit fun. OH wait, can sadomaso play be fun? Gasp at the twisted thought of that one. LOL.. Just my own take on this matter...

Rather than have the whole scene "ruined" in your eyes and make her feel like she's somehow done something wrong, channel the energy you have in the CONNECTION together into a good experience for everyone. That's what a good dom/top does IMO.

I have to say that the first time I had this happen with my boy using a mylar flogger with my violet wand it took me by suprize. After a 5/10 minutes of this I just accepted it and enjoyed it, every now and then it will get me laughing as well. When that happens it breaks my focus, but after a few cuckles I am right back in the my head space. You just need to read the laughing as you would anyother sound. And really if we can't laugh at ourselfs who can we laugh at. Mike

You know, almost every time I have ever bottomed for pain play I have laughed at least at some point during it. I laugh for the sheer head rushing joy I'm feeling as I get creatively beaten. I love it and revel in it, in the pain, the sensation, the energy. It's beautiful. And yes I laugh and have fun as well like last night when I got a particularly hard solid whack with a paddle. I came straight up, whipped my head to look at him, grinned and said, "Well, THAT got my attention! You rang?" And we both just cracked up. It was great. As others have said, some people react to pain with laughter, they can't help it, it's just how they react. Is it her or her reaction that means more to you? Sometimes you just have to find what's more important and go from there. I wish I had some words of wisdom for you, some answer to tell you how to make it the way you want it to be, but I don't. I can only talk from my point of view and experience.

Not a thing wrong with a good laugh that comes from either giving or receiving pain. Any time I think of the memories where laughter has been the result from an activity, it makes Me smile, even today. Yes, pain can be funny. Ever see how clothespins wobble when someone starts laughing from it? It's downright hilarious AND it causes more pain!

I used to laugh when he beat me, it was my primary response. I was allowing him to subject me to pain, which caused not only physical sensation, but an emotional response. Some people must express their emotions in some way, and laughter is a release valve Like I said, I used to laugh, but then came a breakthrough where I cried instead... this was a huge thing for me because I think it was a level of trust that let me cry instead of laugh.

She's going through catharsis (as Master Fire pointed out) and he's upset that the universe didn't give him the catharsis that he wanted. Reminds me of a joke....How many Doms does it take to change a light bulb? One, he just holds it up and waits for the world to revolve around him.
