Back when I was still with my last vanilla boyfriend, in my fifth year of a custody battle; said boyfriend used to think it was funny to say things like, “So, aren’tch ya glad you decided to breed?” and “How’s that marriage thing treatin’ ya?”.
I knew he was trying to be funny, (in a hateful sort of way). I would say to him, “Look, Jackass, it’s only meant as a joke, if we’re both laughing; otherwise, it’s something else. Does this look like my freakin’ happy face to you?!?”
Of course that was exactly how he wanted me to respond, so, he won.
Unfortunately for him, one day he pushed me too far, to the point where I felt it was necessary to remind him, why it was exactly, he had never been married. I think he finally got it.
We are still friends, and he doesn’t usually say things like that anymore. Since we don’t live together anymore, if he did, I would leave, or tell him to go home; depending on if he were at my house at the time.
Don’t recall ever telling him to “Do it again!!!”, so I could continue to complain about it, or sticking my fingers in my ears, while repeating, “I can’t hear you!!!!”
