DrkAngl -> Do you make your own toys? (5/15/2005 9:02:26 PM)

A hobbie of mine is creating play things. I'm curious to find out if others make their own things and what. :) I would enjoy exchanging ideas.

I've found a modeling compound called Friendly Plastic to be a very useful thing. After you melt the pellets you can sculpt it into almost anything you can think of. Merely put it into cold water for it to cool and harden. If you make a mistake, or get tired of it, merely put it back in boiling hot water and start over. It's very hard when cooled. It makes dildos fairly well as well as other things.

Another favorite of mine is PVC pipe. It's inexpensive and you can construct almost anything with it.

My late husband loved Vinyl, so I found some clear seethrough vinyl at our local Walmart. It was easy to sew and made a good pair of seethrough pants. I also made him a harness and collar as well. I made a small flogger for me to use. :)

Liquid Latex is fun to play with as well. I used to make theatrical masks for costumes. I found that if you poured the liquid latex into a cheap baking pan with sides, that when it cures you can cut it into strips. After they finish totally curing, you powder the ends of the strips and tie the other ends together to make a flogger. The unpowdered ends stick together well.

I still yet have ideas running through my head. LOL

Certainly. [:)]

Ok, Things I've done so far, vanilla style.

1) made a pipeline to fill up my son's blow up pool during the summer. Why? Because the apartment complex we live in doesn't have outside the apartment. It worked very well. I attached it to the sink spicket.

2) A child's pipe construction set. Lowes, our local hardware store, cut the pipes up in the size I requested. This service is normally free. Then I merely purchased the pipe connectors. A very cheap building set. Just make sure you check all the pipe ends and sandpaper off any rough edges.

Something I saw at Walmart

If you look in the kid's section of Walmart, chances are you may have seen the "ball cage" there. It's very simple, thick pipe, and some bungy cords. They use them to hold basket balls, children's play balls, etc. I've even seen them hold stuffed animals.

Vanilla things I've made "blueprints" for, but haven't made, YET

When I was teaching preschool, I drew up a version of a ballpit. I had been talking to the director about making one for out classroom, but unfortunately, it never was done.

Anyways, my idea was to use PVC pipe, the connectors, and netting style material that can usually buy at your local fabric store. You simply construct a square, or rectangle, and then the netted fabric can be attatched to the sides to create walls so the balls don't go everywhere.

Non vanilla ideas

Someone had posted once about a cheap version of a cage. That would be easy enough to make up using PVC pipe. That would also depend on how strong you want the cage to be. If you have a sub or slave that doesn't rattle the cage too much, then the cheap 1 to 1/2 inch pipe would do.

If you needed a really strong cage, then the more expensive metal pipes would work as well with the right connectors.

Spacing bars
You could use the PVC to make inexpensive spacer bars. If you wanted them really strong, then you'd probably have to go with slightly thicker pipe.

I'll post the other ideas as soon as I recall them.

Here is the search result thatlists different things URLS of things you can make with PVC.

Almost forgot. When I was teaching, another teacher made a wonderful item called a "Plastic Bubble". It was very simple to make as well as use. The kid's loved it.

You need very heavy plastic for this and a decient sized fan. You'll also need duct tape. Sharp scissors are needed too.

She first constructed a tube by taping the plastic together. This tube will be attached to the fan in order to blow up the "room". She merely took the face part off the fan and then tapped on the plastic. There are other ways of doing it as well.

Anyways, She taped the plastic into a large square or rectangle bubble. She then taped that to the long tube she'd made first.

Next, you blow it up using the fan. Once filled you need to cut a small door for the person to enter. Always keep the fan going or the room will collapse.

Her's was made of clear plastic found at your local hardware store's gardening center, but you could use the solid black plastic as well. Just be aware of the outside temperature. You don't want anyone over heating.

I'm sure there are many things you could think of to use this bubble style cage for.

Yes I make most of my own stuff. I enjoy being creative and attending workshops on how to use common items for the lifestyle. With $40 I spent at Home Depot I was able to make about 20 different toys for whipping, tieing, spanking, and bodage.
I asked the same question myself in a thread called "make or buy them."
It's relocated here in Bondage and Apperal.

I hope you read it as it's very funny and educational.

I greatly enjoy making toys, mostly wooden paddles and bondage furnture of all sorts. Also I custom make rattan canes..:) I was trained as a gunsmith and found that bringing the hidden color and grain out of a bit of wood to be deeply satisfing. Even more so when it's going to be so eroticly charged. I used to make a extra $ or 2 with my fancy hardwood paddles and vended at Thunder in the Mountains for a couple of years but pretty much any more I just do it for my friends.

I started making my own toys about 8 years ago. I started with a pair of leather cuffs. After several pair of cuffs, I decided I needed a flogger and here in Utah, there are no decent floggers in the boutiques, so I made my first flogger.

For the longest time, I refined my leather working skills making floggers and restraints for myself and friends. I've gradually been adding to my collection of wood working tools and am just now getting to the point where I'll be able to build nice furniture type things.

In the last few months, a friend and I have actually started our own company where we mainly build floggers and paddles. But as I learn more woodworking, we'll branch into furniture. As I've got more and more into rope bondage, I've totally lost interest in leather restraints, so I don't even make them anymore.

And it all started because I couldn't see myself spending $50 bucks on a pair of shitty leather cuffs.
