My favorite fiction writer is James Lee Burke. i absolutely love anything he writes though my favorites are the 15 book series with Cajun detective Dave Robicheaux. Of those 15, "Purple Cane Road" is probably my favorite. He has a new one coming out in July ("Tin Roof Blow Down)," as well as a book of short stories called "Jesus Out To Sea." Though i read much more nonfiction than fiction, i go through fiction "phases" where that's what i crave. i generally like anything Greg Iles writes as well, especially the ones set in Natchez, MS. Right now, i'm reading John Connolly's newest one "The Unquiet." It has been quite good i must say. You mentioned "Heart-Shaped Box." i absolutely loved that. i read it before i knew Joe Hill was King's son and i went around telling everyone about this new guy whose writing was so good. When i saw that He was King's son, i just kind of shook my head and said "that figures." Must be in the genes. i'm currently looking forward to the new Jeffery Deaver book that's coming out in a few weeks[:)]...........luci

Oh yeah, i forgot all about Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. i love their Agent Pendergast novels ("Still Life With Crows," etc.). They are a real treat[:)]...luci

Ahhh ohk... Right now I am reading Your Erroneous Zone and not be choice exactly. It's suppose to help me with my self esteem issues. I'm trying. But as for favorite book? Well since it was the last one I read for pleasure I'd have to say Kim Harrison's Rachel Morgan series. ie the last one was For a Few Demons more.

Heaven's Prisoner's, Black Cherry Blues, In the Electric Mist with Confederate Dead....... all fantastic stuff.*

I've been trying to get through Crisis (Robin Cook). Usually I run through his stuff, but I've not been reading much lately. In the queue: Sweetwater Creek (Anne Rivers Siddons) Night (Elie Wiesel) And a book my mom ordered me for my birthday by Anite Shreve, can't remember the title. I need to make reading a priority, I've done some backsliding.

LOL, Gauge, sounds like me. I always have a book with me. I've even taken a book with me to the movies so that I can read while waiting for it to start. The best time, tho, was when my niece graduated from college. I just knew I would end up sitting there so I brought a book and spend a delightful hour reading while everyone else was grumbling. I, too, have way too many favorites to list. I can't even list favorite authors as they change daily!

I do like the Merry Gentry, fairy series as well. Add Kim Harrison to the list if you like the Urban Fantasy books. I read a wide variety of genres: horror, romance, erotica, real life crime, anything with any archaeology in it, the classics. Favorites include Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Cheyenne McCray, Charlene Harrison, Mary Shelly, Poe… I read a great deal.

One of my favorite authors is Chuck Palahniuk. Choke, Survivor, and Invisble Monster are all my favorites by him. I like Christopher Buckley, he wrote Thank you for Smoking, and more recently Boomsday. Jodi Piccoult is another author I love. Her books are powerful, and heartbreaking. I'm currently reading Between the Bridge and the River, by Craig Ferguson. It's really really good. Different than what I expected of him. And right now, I'm waiting on Janet Evanovich's new book to come out, and of course, Harry Potter.

I am always reading. Mutli. books at a time. A few authors I have enjoyed are Poppy Z. Brite, Richard Montanari, JK Rowling, Anne Rice (as well as when she writes as A. N. Roquelaure) I always enjoyed "Angela's Ashes" as well as " 'Tis " by Frank McCourt I also read off the wall books as well a good example is "The Matrix and Philosophy: Welcome to the Desert of the Real". I just have to say, I love the topic! It gives me ideas for more authors that I haven't read. My current reading list is rather varied, as I am most usually reading more than one book at once. In no particular order they are: Different Loving by Brame, Brame and Jacobs; Banewrecker by Jacqueline Carey (I HAVE to get Kushiel's Scion!), The Night Trilogy (Night, Dawn, and The Accident) by Elie Wiesel, and The Art of War (Translated by Thomas Clearey) written by Sun Tsu. As for favorite authors, I love reading, and can be found most any day with at least two books on my person at any given time lol. I love Benjamin Hoff and Kahlil Gibran. For Sci-Fi/Fantasy, Tanya Huff, Mercedes Lackey, Kristin Britain, Gayle Greeno,and of course Jacqueline Carey [:D].

Jodi Picoult has always been one of my faves too. In fact, my daughter now reads her books and we just got the new one last night. It's amazing how she can write to several different audiences at once.
