I've noticed a slightly weird thing happening during the past fews months here on CM. I have a profile which is pretty full. Submissive man messages me. I reply, politely, either saying "thanks, but no thanks"  or "you sound interesting, shall we get to know each other a little better?"
Then I receive no follow-up to the latter, positive response. Occasionally the same person will message me again, apparently having forgotten doing the same thing a month ago!  It's getting a little wearing - and more frequent!

Just wondering if other Ladies on CM have the same experience?

Yes. Had plenty of revenants here (a revenant is "one who returns", and often applied to a form of undead!)

I do not think we always get every email sent. As a result the person may never have known you emailed him.

I've never missed an email on here or had an email not received by those I mailed & I've been a member for many years

I'm thinking a few things here:

people have messed around with the bulk mail settings & they are simply not aware of how much mail is being dumped there

or these people are blindly sending out multiple emails & they filter out replies... they play those out for a bit, then they go back for the next round & the reason why you get multiple hits from the same person is that they aren't really fishing for any one person, they are simply mass email & see who bites

*sigh*

this is what I thought was happening, in some way. The reason why I was prompted to start this topic is that I received a derogatory mail from someone who never replied to me! It was a very odd thing to do, I thought...

Yes I did  respond postively to one such message and I never heard from the guy again. So I took that as a "not interested". I've also had it happen with a female sub I was interested in as well. I'm not sure what the reasoning is behind it, other than perhaps they actually did not expect to get a response in the first place or they just get scared.

The most posts I get have to be from males coming into Baltimore for a week/weekend. I have it spelled out plainly in my profile I am not interested in being anyones entertainment for the week but for some reason they have problems understanding my words.

I'm just curious now, but...if a sub sends you a message (and not just the 'hi, liked your profile, good luck' variety), why wouldn't he respond to your reply?  It just seems odd, that someone would express interest, then exude disinterest when that person replies.  Just my $0.02...

I've personally had a lot of problems of late with the mail system while just corresponding with friends or replying to others who've contacted me for one reason or another.  Usually though, I'll see a warning message appear from the system (have to pay rather close attention though to see it) that my "message was not sent" which appears in red and looks similar to the one that appears when the system tells you it has been sent!  Arggh!

As others have mentioned, it is possible that your reply was caught in the Bulk Mail folder of the recipient if they didn't set it properly.  Things can happen around here for many strange reasons.

I had the bulk mail problem myself and as soon as I realized it (thanks to a friend) I did a journal apologizing to those I missed.

As to why people do what they do intentionally who knows why any human does anything.  I can't even read my husband's mind yet, no less those behind random emails.  Heck...I barely know what I'm going to do next!  My profile is very clear that I'm happy in who I have found and I still get emails all the time....but the common thread is they all appear to be wankers...many are from out of country and "have cam, will play" (ew) or they hope that I'm a lonely housewife in need of a 30 minute quicky while husband's away (ew again).  Those types of emails are the only ones I don't respond to.  When some sends a half witted email that appears as if he looked at my name, age, location and picture and then sends the obligatory "I want to be ur slave" email  (another ew) I simply reply with a "when you learn to read, maybe I'll consider you".  I don't fret or worry or wonder.  Anyone who doesn't take the time to read my VERY extensive profile and journal then I have no use for them.

The absolute best people I have met here....a sub (an occasional play partner and a good friend), a bottom (chat buddies and I tie him up every so often) and of course my slave (no explanation necessary)...all knew my journal entries before we ever got past the second email....and I knew that because they addressed them and addressed them correctly.  A person with good intentions toward me will take the time to do as I've suggested and READ about me...it's there for a reason. *S*

I've had lots of problem with the mail here, personally because I think a lot of the problems stem from the bulk settings. This is why when I'm having a conversation with someone here, I usually suggest we move it to regular email. If she doesn't want to, I generally start to discontinue regular conversations. I've had too many people get upset with me because she thinks I've not responded when I've either not actually seen a message (that the system says was delivered) or that I've responded to, yet they've never received it.

It took me quite a while to figure out what the bulk mail was and set my options accordingly. I felt pretty dumb at the time.

Scammers, scammmers.

Hundreds of thousands of them out there just to waste your time, steal your money and are a royal pain in the Azz!

There is excellent blogging on the net to learn what signs to watch for. I am tempted to post about this, but that would just be a teaser for the scammers, and they email me way too much as it is!

Then there are the lazy: "what can you do for me while i sit her all ugly and horny, I have web cam, sex me please"

Ick!

A few times that has happened to me, and once, maybe twice I would email them and say, I sent you a "not interested" note a month ago, maybe you didn't get it? reply: Yes Ma'am I got it, was hoping you had changed your mind.  My reply: Grr. I will let you know if  I do, Go away.   I check my bulk mail folder pretty regularly, if for no other reason to keep it at an even keel.

I wonder how much of this is people enjoying the "thrill" of the anonymous email correspondence, but not having the the ability, or courage, to follow up further?

Regards, ATP

I always laugh about the ones that I have expressly said I am not interested in, and they continue to message Me anyway.  If they are hoping I'll change My mind, they really just don't have a clue.  If they are just doing it to be social, I can accept that.

It works the same way in reverse.  There have been a couple on here that actually did catch My interest, but it didn't seem to be going that way on their end.  I highly doubt that it's a mail issue behind it.  More like not everyone is for everybody else.
