Archer's point on profits is excellent.  I'd advise you look into it and consider the economics of such.

If you buy your gas before the weekend or after the weekend I don't see that it makes a difference if you are consuming the gas on the weekend, you are just deferring payment, not denying the gas companies your money.

Z.

I agree. Whether you buy it before, or you buy it during the weekend. It is not going to stop the flow of money into the gas companie's pockets. They'll get your money anyways.

Did you not read everything?  If they are going to jack up the price $.30 for the weekend buying it before the weekend robs them of the $.30/gallon profit they would get for you buying on the weekend.  $.30 x millions of gallons= lots and lots of loss.  Also driving down the demand during the weekend which historically would mean they are forced to keep it lower after the weekend.  They throw supply and demand at us as an excuse all the time....this is how the consumer controls the demand.

Oh for the love of....I understand the poor poor oil barons need to make a profit.  But they are making excessive profits and making it by stomping on our toes.  The only logical reason anyone should be defending them is if they are making a profit by it as well.  Do you guys have stock in the oil companies....maybe you work for them or something?  I'm trying to understand why you are so content in giving your arm for a tank of gas.

Maybe all the truckers will join the boycott.  Empty shelves in your grocery store would really send a message huh?

I believe it came off Myspace.  It sounds exactly like the kind of dumbass idea people without a clue that sitting and agreeing with each other in a chatroom would come up with.

Sorry, I don't have a national phone directory handy or I'd call.  No it isn't all that efficient, but it's the fastest way I can think of on short notice.  So take this post and take it to any other meeting site you can think of and post it there as well.  Copy it into your emails and send it to everyone you know.  Then they do the same and so on and so on.....now that I think of it internet word of mouth is the fastest thing we have really.

Here is why doing this over the weekend hurts them.  They are going to raise the price $.30/gallon for the weekend.  Filling up before the weekend shaves off the $.30/gallon extra profit they would have been recieving. Multiply that by god knows how many gallons we'll use on the weekend and you end up with a loss of a couple million from what their expected earnings were supposed to be.

LOL.  Making fun of you was completely not my intent.  Making fun of Myspace was.  I think it's great that you're taking a good message and running with it.

I intend to do this, by the way, but I'm not going to feign that it's because of some heroic action.  I'm just out of gas in the Jeep and I need to go to the grocery store tonight, now that we've eaten dinner.  (Mmmmmm....ribs and corn on the cob.)  LOL.  We live so close to everything, anyway, that we only put fifty or sixty miles on the Jeep in a given week.  Now that we have the Grand Prix running again, it's split between them.  So the gas companies don't profit much from us anyway.

Well let's see...I am not much of a walker, and when it comes to public transportation, I would rather hitch-hike with a complete stranger.

Ah, hostile as always I see.  Truckers have tried to get involved in the past...I work with one actually.  But only the private carriers were able to becasue the shipping companies wouldn't support their drivers when they wanted to do it...which is their right.  They own the trucks after all.

lol, I know your weren't making fun of me personally.....Heretic on the other hand seems to thrive on it.  How you doing H?  Acutally, almost everyone on my list there has reposted it.  Which means it's going to everyone on their lists....and then anyone whos sends from their posts it to all their firends.....you get the idea.  I think it is spreading now.  I only hope the enough people get it and the weekend vindicates me.

I have a  Jeep too*rolls eyes*...I'm getting something with better gas milage as soon as I get some money together.....or I'll convert it to hydrogen or electric.  That would be sweet.

LOL.  This is merely impatient with fools.  I don't get hostile without a very good alibi.

So what do you do when no one wants to play your little games and begin ignoring you?

And we're avid users of the block button when people come just to harrass the other posters.  In all seriousness....what's your suggestion for this.  I don't mind debating and agreeing with you if you make a good point.  But all I've seen you do is poke fun at everyone else's.

I own shares in a tanker ship co (NAT) Nordic American Tankers which pays about 12% in dividends so that's takes some of the sting out of gas prices for me.
I just try not to drive so much. I may fill up every two weeks.

I appreciate the honesty.  I'm in social work and a student so investing in it is hard to accomplish and any increase in prices is hard to stomach.

Then you aren't looking very hard.  I start threads that get me made fun of pretty regularly too.

Do they get made fun of or do they get run into the ground?  There's a difference and I''m not sure you know where that line is.  I've had migraines for a week now and I really don't have the energy to defend every single statement I make.  The myspace bulletin came from my sister who researches these things in great depth.  So it wasn't just some random thing I pulled off there.

Both.  Hell, ask DG sometime about the last one that flat got deleted.  It was WARM in there.

Sometimes, people disappear too. (Anyone seen NG around lately?) And sometimes I hear a little voice whispering in my ear, telling me that I may be next...

lol, no wonder I didn't see it.  This thing is actually spreading through myspace really fast.  I went to a friend's friend list and then went into that persons list and the next and the next and so on and it's showing up in comments sections 10 lists in.  I don't have the attention span to go any further. So it's just multiplying exponentially across the site....then hopefully it will find it's way out of myspace into emails and other sites.  It may atually get enough response to work.  I've only seen it work one other time back in the 90's but the price went down $.30 overnight then.  The trouble is getting enough people to actually do it.
