Having a partner with a working erection is very important to me.  I would not walk away from a committed relationship  if my  partner developed an issue with this,  in the course of our relationship, however i would not enter into a relationship that i know would leave me unfulfilled by the absence of said "hardness".

Tuomas -> RE: Hardness - is it optional (5/24/2007 11:46:18 AM)

Just so there is no missunderstanding, I have a very similar point of view in regards to cheaters and liars as does mistoferin. But that doesn't mean one can't dish out advice...

Tuomas and others who have given sound advice, thank you! I will talk to my new man and check out medical stuff. He does seem to drink a lot, and he is overweight. Though he goes to the gym every day, so has a degree of fitness. I think hes a great guy, and I guess the answer is that I want to try to find a way to get what we both want - he has a very horny mind, which is a good start! Thanks to all!

Drinking reduces libido; in fact, it's known as "brewer's droop". However, usually the droop only comes after significant damamge has been done to the liver, so he might want to have that checked out.

Fitness (as in muscle size and tone) does not significantly affect sexual prowess or erectile function. In fact, men with large muscle mass tend to have more erectile problems than the more "skinny geek" types. Diet has a lot more impact. If he is eating fatty foods, particularly ones with polyunsaturated fats and lacks proper vitamin ballance, he will have problems in the hardness department. Particularly if he is already overweight.

Still, he does have the most important part: a mind.

While I find your morals in questionable regard, in the end, the only thing I can really say for sure is I'm just glad it's going to be a long time before I have to worry about needing Viagra.

popeye1250 -> RE: Hardness - is it optional (5/24/2007 2:37:39 PM)

Tell him to quit drinking!
Alchohol causes a lot of problems with E.D.
Also, high blood pressure and as well, high blood pressure medication causes problems in this area too.
And certain anti-depressants will cause impotency as well.
And of course he could go to his Doctor and get some Viagra but that won't work either if he's drinking.

Five hours erect ?
I think you have been spoiled or you are living in Space Time , Dream Time or Strap On Time.

SirKenin -> RE: Hardness - is it optional (5/24/2007 3:04:58 PM)

Tell him to stop spanking his monkey to porn.  Seriously.  Take porn away from him for a week and watch the difference.  Some men can not handle both.

Vendaval -> RE: Hardness - is it optional (5/24/2007 3:05:41 PM)

Have your new partner go in for a full check up with his doctor
and ask about taking one of the medications for ED.  Like many
have mentioned here alcohol, poor diet, smoking and lack of
exercise takes it's toll on the body.  Also experiment with
toys and games and cock rings.  Don't keep comparing him to
your past lover, that is a dis-service to both men.  You need to
move on with your life.

(The older we get the more gravity wins!)

Vendaval -> RE: Hardness - is it optional (5/24/2007 3:09:15 PM)

This may surprise you, seeks, but I have had several lovers who
were able to be erect after orgasm within a short period of time
and/or who could maintain a stiff erection for hours.

One of them is now my #1 slave.  [sm=lol.gif]
Oh yeah, and the strap-on is for his ass!

George Burns the late comedian once said that having sex at 90 is like trying to shoot pool with a rope.

I quitted a four year affair with a married man who had phenomenal powers in bed, but who lied and let me down. I sacked him, regretfully cos honesty was part of the deal. I have now met a Dom who to all intents and purposes is the ideal man for me. Witty, clever, single, together. We talked for six months before we met, and when we did we clicked. We have slept together three times, and so far he has been unable to obtain an erection, and when he finally did, it felt oddly soft even inside me. Am I being shallow? I faked it but it didnt really feel good. He tried to make up for it, but the scene was spoiled when he told me I was frigid because I wanted to draw my legs together as I came... and he wanted them open.  I miss my hardman - we would have sex for four to five hours and he was hard for most of that time...sob. Any views would be welcome!

You quitted?

Vendaval -> RE: Hardness - is it optional (5/24/2007 4:42:58 PM)

*cough* Going to have to be blunt here - *cough*

Seeks, you only have your penis and sexual performance to compare
with the 5-6 hour example unless you had sex with other men.

Let me put it to you this way...
Who has had more sex with more men, you or I ?
Who has first hand knowledge of the physical capabilities of
a variety of penises attached to a variety of men?

(Don't ponder that thought too long !)

I have had some amazing lovers in my lifetime some my age,
some older, some younger.  They need to have endurance
to keep up with me.  In fact, several have suggested that I keep
a stable or bull pen.  My favorite weekend activity is a combination
of intense dungeon scenes and an old-fashioned Roman orgy,
complete with sexy-edible-fruit-and-veggies!

Is that graphic and explict enough for you?

heh...somebody gave me a cartoon once and my step-father pasted up on the wall inside the garage.
It showed a drawing of an old man looking very forlorn.

And the limmerick went like this -

"My nookie days are over
 My pilot light is out
What used to be my sex appeal
 Is now a water spout

Time was of its own accord
From my trousers it would spring
 But now I have a full-time job
 To find the blasted thing!

 As old age approaches
It sure gives me the blues
To see it hang its withered head

And watch me tie my shoes! "

The way it is for you. Others see it differently and do not see it "black and white" and you do express a lot of anger and animosity in your posts when they are about cheating.

Tuomas -> RE: Hardness - is it optional (5/24/2007 5:08:02 PM)

I'd like to address this 5- 6 hour myth. Medically speaking, having an erection for more than 6 hours causes permanent damage to the penis. Anthing more than four hours is not recommended. There is a reason why there is a warning printed on the back of Viagra bottles.

That having been said, it's perfectly possible for men to have sex sessions in excess of 6 hours, where he looses his erection for five or ten minutes, allowing blood recirculation and oxigenating the corpora cavernosa. A lot of people confuse the two, and it's possible to forget that for a short period, the male of the sketch had a flaccid penis.

Also, you have to factor in the macho bit, who exaggerate sexual prowess, and the women part trying make other women jealous of their "long" sexual experiences. However, don't let this bragging goad you into doing something that can be detrimental to your health.

velvetears -> RE: Hardness - is it optional (5/24/2007 5:39:29 PM)

i would not envy 5 to 6 hour sex sessions in the least. i could not stay wet that long and i would be sore as hell - what fun is that????  [:'(]
