I'm in the market for a new webcam, as mine is several years old. There are a number of kinds out there, I want one that does the pan and zoom and so forth with desktop controls, but haven't a clue what I should be looking for in regards to picture quality, best brand, etc. The 2 main brands were Logitec and the Microsoft Messenger cams. Anyone have any advice? Thanks so much! :)

I will be interested in the replies as well...however ...it occurs to me that the better the cam...the better the detail in the picture....so maybe at my age...unfocused and cheaper is better....LOL

I have two to recommend.. Both of which I have and both do what you want and are compatible with Vista if that ever becomes an issue. Microsoft Lifecam VX-6000 and Logitech Quickcam Pro 5000.
