They say the Mrs. (The one in the pic) is 35. She looks closer to 50 IMO.

Anyway, I'm sure this too will gather attention from the media and once again shed negative light on the lifestyle.

This sounds more along the lines of human trafficking, then WIIWD

Oh I totally agree. But the media will put a lifestyle spin on it. Just watch.

I work with an anti slavery group. I have personally been involved in a very similar case in Boston about 15 years ago. The physical abuse was not as severe, but the rest of the story has a very familar ring to me.

I see alot of posts here, that when stories like this make the news, it is a " slap " to the BDSM world. I see it quite differently and disagree severely.

These cases may involve some componenets of BDSM, but the major one is lacking: CONSENT.
And never, and I mean never, have I ever seen a reference to BDSM.

If one is sooooooo sensitive to the term " slavery", that they cannot see it beyond WIITWD, then you need a reality check. True slavery exisits in this country and thrives quietly in many many other countries. It is not nice, it is not fun, it is not erotic it is not a lifestyle choice.

I find it sad that when someone posts about these cases, the majority of folks see it as some sort of attack or critique on WIITWD. I have yet to see anyone actually empathize with the alleged victim. Most people comment it is probably a slave seeking revenge on a Master or some such nonsense.

I wish people would try being a little more sensitive to the human plight, than to a term *THEY* use to describe a mutually satisfying relationship. Because other than the headlines that say " Slave or Slavery", there is nothing in these stories remotely connected to BDSM.

< my rant is complete>

I have been doing this work for 15ish years now and have been interviewed by almost every large newpaper in the country on Domestic slavery, I have done interviews with CNN and FOX and local television stations about the case I was personally involved in. Not once, have I had media person ask me a question in any why associating these cases with BDSM. Never!
I have testified in Federal Court in 3 cases, and never once has any mention of BDSM come up. Not even by the defense team.

It isn't really a worry that they will make that connection.  More the worry is that everyone who reads it will do so.  Ever see Eddie Izzard's Transvestite rant?  How when they found out J. Edgar Hoover was a crossdresser everyone says 'oh that explains it' rather than assume the two had nothing to do with each other?  People don't always draw lines where they should. A good number will lump this slavery into the same group as consensual slavery.  For some reason these people always seem to be the loud ones.
