Hey there, I am looking for some advice about hanging my sex swing. It is the basic sex swing and uses a large screw to secure it to the ceailing which was fine at my last place but I moved into an apartment and the studs in the ceiling are I beams, being that they are metal I cannot screw the swing into them and not being a construction genius I was hoping someone here might have an idea of what I could do. my partner and I really miss our swing[:(]

Often you can purchase a hammock stand and modify it to hold your swing.

Can you not exchange the screw for a ring and thread it through an industrial C-clamp over the beam?

The Beams are not exposed so it is almost impossible to get a c-clamp on it but I like the idea.  the stand idea would work except I have a small space and no where to keep a stand. thank you for the ideas it is such a pain trying to figure this out, any help is greatly appreciated

Do you have any idea how heavy the  I beams are?  With the right screw you could still drill into them and hang the swing.

there are special c clamps that bolt on those I beams to hold conduit and other things they should be modifiable, additionally drill, oil and patience will wear a hole in a metal ibeam

Greybar or any electrical supply of any magnitude will have what you want, or pop by a large building being built from steel frame and ask fastenal (a company) should have them too.

browse under fall protection or visit your local safety supply store.   you can get an I-beam lanyard for under $50 and connect a U-bolt and have someone weld a bolt to it to fit your swing.   the average I-beam lanyard can suppport up to 2500 pounds of falling person (the weight of a person falling 6 feet).   you can also visit a welding supply store or harbor freight and get a set of welding clamps that might work and have someone attach the bolt you need.

If you have the height in your room (and suitable walls) why not put in a new wooden beam under the ceiling ?

If you can locate the studs in the walls, use screws and 2x4's to make a frame.  Cut the 2x4 about 7.5 inches short of the celing.  Put a 2x4 header on top, secured to the studs.  Then place a 4x4 on top of the header, flush with the celing.  Finish up with a 2x6 brace.  The 4x4 will easily hold the weight.  It also gives a bunch of options for securing points.  I can send you pictures if this isn't clear.

Depending on the ammount of room you have,  you could get a free standing porch swing,  the A-Frame type and decorate it with cushions and pillows to match your apartment.  Then,  just switch out the "swings"  when it is play time.

The simplest and most cost effective thing that I've done with my swing was to buy a pull up bar and place it in a doorway. The only complaint I have with doing it that way is I was unable to move around the submissive. So I spun her around instead Weeeeeeeeee lol.

   Industrial C-clamps are not a good choice based on the amount of movement in volved.  If you go to McMaster Carr or a strut (uni-strut, power strut etc) vendor you can find all that you need.  There are calmps design to secure a strut channel to a beam without drilling the beam.  You can get them from any Mechnical Contractor in your area.  Jest tell tell them is it for a swing.

Cut a 1-3inch square or round hole in the ceiling and run a rope up and over the beam and then back down.

Unless your bottom is less than 100 pounds the moving weight of pretty much too much for a pull up bar to safely support due to the downward force motion puts on the bar.

Kill two birds with one stone and build yourself one of those canopy beds!
You can use two by fours, drill and bolt them don't nail them.
You can stain them so they look nice and put some of that fancy lace stuff up.
Make them double thick (use two two by fours) and you can hang the fat lady in the circus up with no problem.
Just use a couple of "I" bolts screwed into a window frame if the bed backs up to one for steadying it by tieing the frame to the "I" bolts.

I have a couple of questions for you

1. why would I-beams be used in an apartment?
2. are there metal or wood studs in your walls?
3. can you get into the attic?
4. Do you need to "cover up" when the swing is not in use?

hi i think you will find that the metal is only thin gauge fixing for drie wall or plaster board  ther with be a small space the a solid concrete floor drill 2 hole about 12inch a part use 2 6in no 12 wood screws and large rawl pulgs  . then get 18in piece of 2x4 wood dill 2 1/4 in or 6mm holes 12 ich apart and screw up to the ceiling , you the fix the swing using the origanal eye bolt in the center of the piece of wood  hope this is all clear allan
