Okay, I have a passion for cooking... I also love to find recipes that taste like you've slaved over a hot stove all day, but only took minutes to prepare... Have the submissives here ever participated in a recipe exchange? Is there interest in that sort of thing?

If so, I have like, a million easy recipes that are sure to melt the heart of any Master/Mistress the minute they walk into the house and smell deliciousness wafting from the kitchen....

oh oh my favorite especially since it is strawberry season here in CA is cream cheese filled strawberries. With a little powdered sugar and some vanilla, it tastes like cheese cake on the go.

Greetings

i love to fool around in the kitchen...oh, perhaps that came out wrong. i love to experiment in the kitchen. ;)

my family grows blackberries and i came up with this recipe to use the blackberries in an unconventional way:

Ingredients:
4 or more (up to 8) chicken breasts
1 basket fresh or thawed frozen blackberries (1 basket equals 1/2 pint...and i've found olallie and siskiyou varieties work best for this recipe, but i'm certain any variety other than the black buttes you'll find in the supermarket would work just fine...best bet: check your local farmers market for farm fresh blackberries)
1 tablespoon lemon juice
water to make 1 1/2 cups
olive oil
a dash of granulated garlic
a dash of fine ground black pepper
a dash of onion powder
Place chicken in a bowl. Set aside.

In a 2-cup measuring cup, crush berries with lemon juice. Add water to make 1 1/2 cups. Press through sieve over bowl of chicken. Add a splash olive oil, and a few dashes each garlic, pepper, and onion seasonings. Marinate 10-15 minutes, turning the chicken once or twice to be certain all is marinated evenly. Grill till cooked through, but do not overcook.
Note: this chicken will appear on the outside to be dry and will take on a purplish hue from the color of the blackberry juice. Don't worry about that. The chicken ends up very tender and very flavorful.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Another blackberry recipe i came up with...

Blackberries 'n' More Dessert Topping

Ingredients:
1 cup frozen siskiyou blackberries (olallie blackberries would go well with this also)
2 cups frozen boysen blackberries
3 medium nectarines
2 cups quartered strawberries
1 cup strawberry glaze
1 teaspoon siskiyou blackberry jam (or olallie blackberry jam if using that variety)
Place blackberries in a bowl. Set aside.

Slice the strawberries, de-pit and peel the nectarines, then slice into thin wedges. Add these to the blackberries and mix well. Fold in the glaze and jam. Let sit on counter for an hour or in fridge if not serving for several hours.
Serving suggestions:

Over triple vanilla ice cream (neopolitan-style ice cream, with three kinds of vanilla: regular, french, and vanilla bean)

With vanilla bundt cake and vanilla ice cream.

There is a trend here with the suggestions i make with this recipe. The topping goes great with vanilla flavored things, such as ice cream, vanilla cakes, etc. i think it would also be very good over cheesecake. i don't know how good it'd be with milk or dark chocolate, but i think it would be yummy with white chocolate.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i hope you all enjoy these recipes. i have many more with and without blackberries, but thought i'd just post two here to begin with. :)

My two bibles of cooking are, "The Joy of Cooking" and the Culinary Institutes "The Professional Chef."  I like both books, but I lean more heavily on the Professional Chef.  The only three food websites I go to (I've never found a need to go anywhere else are):

- www.epicurious.com - Epicurious/Gourmet Magazine
- www.foodnetwork.com - Food TV's website
www.chow.com - A great place for not only recipes but also they have a webboard where they talk about not just cooking but restaurants

Honestly, I'm not big into food recipe swaps, unless I trust the person I'm hearing the recipe from (and their cooking abilities) its hard.  And my personal best recipes, developed or modified over time, I'm not really chomping at the bit to share.

What I do like to hear though are what people prepare, not the recipes, but the actual meals (and also any sort of wine or beverage pairings).  That tends to give me better ideas.

C~

I'm a big fan of Bisquick recipes, too.  If you do a search there a tons of sites with all kinds of recipes.  Starting with Bisquick really cuts the time in half and the recipes are really creative.

I've only recently discovered the joys of grilled foods; I never do anything with fish anymore unless I'm grilling it.  Granted, I'm not the stereotypical 'all American, football watchin', hotdog/hamburger grillin' dude' type, but I figured out how to do steaks the other night that turned out fairly well.

But seriously...try grilling that fish it if it's not too late; four minutes usually works for me...*smiles*

Sitting here staring at a flat of strawberries I think I need this recipe. Any attempts made at freezing it in the past?

Somewhere in the depths of the "whats for dinner tonight" thread (in polls and random I think), is my recipe for curry. A recipe so damned good that I hesitated to post it, since it leads to the pattern on plates being licked off, and can provoke marital problems for couples who taste it, along the lines of "why cant you cook like that?". You have been warned.

But no one, absolutely no one, gets my recipe for tuna pasta bake. A concoction so inutterably wonderful that on the advice of police, it can only be prepared in a secret location for carefully selected guests who have been psychometrically measured to be as sure as possible that they are not likely to become addicted.

http://slashfood.com makes me happy.
As does http://cooks.com

I've never done an exchange... though I'd like to. I make up a lot of the things I cook, but I almost never write the recipe down.

I'm not talking to Santalia. You can't even buy those berries up here at any time of year, and local blackberry season seems to last 4 days. Go ahead and tease me with great fruit I will never get my paws on, sob!

i wish you well.
