This is good, DC, but our system only has one chief executive.  That's why it's called the "executive branch."

It's pretty clear--maybe you should have paid more attention in civics class:

ex·ec·u·tive:

1. A person or group having administrative or managerial authority in an organization.
2. The chief officer of a government, state, or political division.
3. The branch of government charged with putting into effect a country's laws and the administering of its functions.

leg·is·la·tive

1. Of or relating to the enactment of laws.
2. Resulting from or decided by legislation.
3. Having the power to create laws; intended to legislate.

Or, if you prefer, a great Liberal radical once said:

"In republican government, the legislative authority necessarily predominates."  -- James Madison
Federalist #51, Feb 6 1788, The Structure of the Government Must Furnish the Proper Checks and Balances Between the Different Departments

Sooo...  Do you have anything to say, 411, or does your nic just mean you like to cut and paste?

To grind this analogy further into the pavement, how does suggesting that trying to drag the driver from his seat while travelling, in ANY way equates to skipping a scheduled and MANDATED driver change down the road?

Impeaching a President and removing that person from office for crimes committed is also mandated.

You are making the statement that removing the person from office is a bad idea under stressful situations.  The situation has not changed in years, I doubt they will change much in the next two.  So it will be removal of a sitting president while travelling whenever it happens.

The only difference between getting rid of him today and waiting for the scheduled elections are all the dead and wounded people leaving him in office will create.  I dont want their blood on my hands.

So you believe the removal of this President will magically undo the war?  That the withdrawal of our troops will be the Mommy's kiss that makes it all better?

I did a thread a couple weeks back on people finding comfort in believing things which aren't true.  Perhaps you should have replied....  That's a doozy.

I do not think the removal of this president will undo the war.

In the same sense that I do not think keeping that cretin in office will undo the war.

That is not the issue.  He broke the law.  He lied and lies repeatedly to people.  He is doing everything he
can to destroy the US economy, worldview, Constitutionally guaranteed rights, privacy, etc.

Despite his overuse of the "I am your commander" nonsense, he serves at the pleasure of the US citizenry.  If you were managing a staff, would you keep a person on staff who continually lied, squandered resources, pissed off customers, etc., or would you invite them to find a new job?

If you want to work from an analogy, Sinergy, come up with a better one.  This completely misses the fact that half the staff of the company thinks your assessment is a hate and hypocrisy filled bag of shit.

My company.  They are welcome to look for another job.

If you are referring to the US population, I would love to point out who got their asses handed to them in the last election, and considering the 5 stooges running for the Republican nomination for President, I look forward to hearing your discussion after election day as to how many people in the US support the Republican party.

The problem really boils down to there being a limit to how many of those incompetent nitwits can be fired each election.   This does not really equate to 50% of the Americans supporting them.  If a person is not up for reelection, firing them is not really an option unless they get caught up in Abramhoff, illegally proposition minors for sex, redistrict their district illegally using federal dollars, etc.

Wrong.  I have precisely as much stock as you do.  You are of course free to pursue your options elsewhere.

Well, Democracy and freedom of expression.  Or do you define democracy as when you get your way and dictatorship as when you don't?

farglebargle -> RE: "AP: Marines fail to get gear to troops" (5/26/2007 6:46:44 AM)

Democracy can take many flavors, from Anarchy to Communism, and anywhere in between that spectrum of State Control.

Right now? The US is run like a Banana Republic.

Which is why Bush, Cheney, et al haven't been indicted for their violation of 18 USC 371.
