Hello.. having practiced on a Orange and Tangerine until they squealed with pleasure.. I am thinking about introducing my subbie to Suturing. I am running into a supply issue.

I had 50 or so "expired" sutures that had been donated to me, with their expiration dates long gone. These were my practice supplies. They are all gone now, and I would not have used them on a person anyhow.

I am having problems finding non-expired sutures in the USA. Does anyone have a favorite website or store they use? I am looking, ideally, for 1/2 or 5/8 circle needles.. with silk thread, not gut.

Oh hell no.. I don't even know how much one would run.. I imagine a fair amount.

I assume with one you can re-sterilize used sutures..

Kinky Medical has sutures as well as the stuff to clean the skin before suturing.  I'm hoping you have more knowledge of suturing than just putting stitches in fruit.  We learned at a workshop run by medical professionals.

Well.. this is the first step to learning.. getting the right and safe equipment. I have been doing needle play for quite a while.. no injuries or trauma. Both I and Mine want to step up to this next level. I have no intention of solo-ing on a suture scene without someone knowledgeable locally "supervising" the procedure.

Next item, why worry about expirations dates? If the package is still sealed it is still sterile. It may not be good enough for an operating room but for your purposes it will be just fine. You need to get needle holders, etc. also if you have not yet done so. BTW, this does not apply if you are using absorbable ones for time might be a factor with them.

Acheap alternative autoclave is a smal pressure cooker. mre heat and fast.
