Since this is my first post...I hope I am not putting this in the wrong place, or making an unjust post, but I was reading some of the threads and found the ones on shaving not only most excellent but also disconcerting.

Everyones skin is VERY different and very specifcally dealt with. So ones "tonic" is another ones nightmare.

That being said, I recently found a product, other than the successful one I presently use that is very benefical (which is not a typical store brand but special ordered) ~~ so I thought I would toss it out for those who might like to try it.

I was in the bath tub and needed to shave, went to grab my fine sucessful product and realized I had only enough for my armspits or my netherlands...and my razor had been used once before...but darn ! LOL I really needed to shave all since I was going swimming. My armpits give me as much trouble as the other spot.
I looked around, sighing, and my eyes stopped on a product I am using for my hair cause the chlorine of the swimmng pool wrecks it ...its called BIOSILK, silk therapy. Its quite expensive about $40. for 12 oz.

So I started with the BIOSILK and a "almost" new razor and shaved my netherparts and finshed my other product on my armpits and used soap on my legs.

I should write an ode to the gods!! BIOSILK was totally awesome !! For me. To someone else, maybe a horror.

Just thought I would pass this on.

Hey, don't look at me. I use Pantene for shaving... expensive, but better than ingrowns.

You can get a generic imitation of Biosilk with the exact same ingredients and formula at both Sally's Beauty Supply and Harmon's Beauty Supply for about $6 to $7 for a nice big bottle. I used to use biosilk but hated spending a ridiculous, absurd amount of money for frizz serum...found the generic copycat and I could never tell the difference. If you were going to use it for shaving, boy I would run and get the copycat ASAP. ;)

I agree! <still wishing> :) I tried the Victoria Secret body spray with alcohol after shaving and that helped when shaving every other day, but that's just too long to go for me. When done every day, Vickis doesn't do much. I'm seriously starting to consider waxes, but will try pantene and the generic biosilk first.

Mia, There's tons of do's and don't and have nots that people could pass on. I have personally heard that it's not good to shave everyday cause the skin doesn't get any rest. However What works for one doesn't work for every one.

I want to try brazilian wax's but I am hesitant because waxing is painfull, And I really don't know any places around here that do that. When I get the motivation up maybe I'll do a search one day lol.

Very true, Feline, I have seen the topic of shaving on many boards and many different things that work for people. I've tried different things and experimented a lot to find what works for me.

On the brazilian wax, I tried it recently and yes, it hurt, but to be honest, it wasn't as bad as I might have thought. What I found a little more uncomfortable was that sort of awkwardness of letting someone do it, lol. But I'm definitely going to do it again and I have been told that it gets less painful after the first few times.

I also thought it would be hard to find a place that did it, and the first salon/day spa I checked, right down the street from me, listed waxing services and included brazilian wax.

Try it, you might like it!

Be well,
harmony

Could I get someone to come hold my hand through the process?:P

Did you wash your self right before going? I mean yeah we shower but like does showering right before help with the waxing?

I've only ever waxed my lip and my eye brows I got that done twice, and since the first time waxing my eye brows I developed sever eye brow dandruff and patches of dry skin. I've always had a little bit of dandruff but now it's huge crust flake patches of dry skin

Alcohol? ICK! Alcohol is a terrible thing to use to shave- it dries out your skin. The reason that a lot of conditioners work is that it softens both the skin and the hair- making the hair easier to cut and the skin less irritated.

What a great tip...I too hate spending the money on Biosilk even though it's a great product. Do you recall the name of the generic product?? Thanks!!

In Sally's, there is a whole large section on the wall of tons of Generic imitations of all kinds of things, they are all together. They have copies of all kinds of Paul Mitchell stuff and Sebatstian.. the bottles say what the product is a mimic of.. It says "Copare to Ferekai Biosilk" and then on the back it lists the ingredients of the generic and the real product to show you the ingredients are identical.
The brand is called Generic Value Production and it is only available at Sally's as far as I know.
There is a similar line at Harmon's but I don't know the name of their generic brand, I only bought it once. It was exactly the same quality though.

You know, I used biosilk conditioner to shave my legs the other day. They were wonderfully smooth! I'd recommend that for anyone with money to burn.

My Mistress was in Albertson's (grocery store) today and they had both the biosilk shampoos and silk therapy. The 5.64 oz of silk therapy was $11. Unfortunately we bought it the day before at a beauty supply store for $22.

As far as getting a good shave goes, I think it is more in the prep than what you actually use for lubrication. Ingrown hairs often happen when you shave too close to the skin, or where your hairs tend to be curly. Shaving with the grain and good exfoliating will often help this.

As I write this Mistress is cruelly excising my ingrowns with her nails, so they aren't always a bad thing.

Yes, I can imagine it in other places. Too bad I'm not the one in charge of coochie hair maintenance. ^_~

Reading the forum here, and see this as a pretty good topic as far as hygiene goes as well. Most Doms prefer their subs clean down there~!!
My big thing is Laser~!! It is the best thing ~! Haven't any of you tried it?? Oh yes, it hurts like all hell, I get a Brazilian, and it takes time, you have to go in for quite a few visits. But, oh the outcome~! There is nothing like a pair of silk panties on in my experience before~!! it's wonderful. As far as cost, well you can check out several places, and it does last for a long time until your next session. It is so worth it. As long as you don't mind someone down there, lasering, it is well worth it~! Soon it never grows back again.

yes.. and well no

Yes... becuase its a major pain and not needed

No.. because one day it might be needed (like yall seen the movie Alive? i am PRETTY sure they were very appreciative of any extra warmth extra hair added!)

So just WHAT if one day you need it?
and
Its supposed to be there for a reason right?

BUT yeah it would be nice if it could all just vanish!

Well when I shaved I would use unscented ant-persperant. Yes, I know it sounds wierd, and you wont be getting any head for the day, but it works. I have turned lots of my gal pals on to it, as well as a few male's, and as wierd as it sounds it keeps the ingrown hairs away. As for grow back time...well I am still shaving, and rarely at that. I used to have someone pluck them, arms legs, and bikini as well. After the second time, they grew back less, and took about 4 months to grow in completly.... So , if you or your sub are board.. and don't for get, the ant-persperant, Unscented...Thats real important. Hope it helps some....
