  3. How much time did it take for you to research each of the thumbnails to track down the artist and verify that the art was not being used with their permission?  (Thanks for doing that, by the way - I will take my Avatar off immediately! )

The only thing in jeopardy here is your continued use of the site.

As you were told repeatedly in email, we've paid license fees for the avatar packs we use in these forums with the exception of a handful of user contributed ones they claimed to hold copyright on.  If you know of avatars that are being used without the permission of the creator, please bring them to our attention.  Otherwise, stop the baseless accusations now.

Just got in....I was already to choose an avatar but that minnetar really kind of has me spooked....She seems to know a great deal about the law, as well as damn near everything else....And I don't want to get sued...Because I know lots of artists.....and by "lots" I mean..."two" and by "artists" I mean.... "women that can deep throat the Domidong."

I will try to find an avatar that would be appropriate, and by "be appropriate" I mean ..."make women want to be at my whim.."

Any suggestions would be helpful.

made me think further - if that is what you believe why not contact the site and ask them who is the artist for the avatar in use and have they received permission to use it.  That would safeguard someone from a lawsuit.

Many of these avatars come from a site that offers free avatars that are user submitted and are not under copyright protection. I saw these very same avatars when searching through a free clipart/avatar site. Many people share their work for free.

Perhaps you should do a search on google for avatar+free and see what I mean

Rich i have no reason to be embarrassed by my name as i stand up for what i believe in.  The choice of using art which is licensed is something i believe to be illegal.  i know some of the art which is used and i will contact the artist to verify that they have given free use of that to the site as mod 11 has indicated .  i am sorry as a have a number of friends who are artists and have a very hard time with the illegal use of their art.
