In actual Greek history, even hetrosexual males could be called malakos - because the term was not associated with homosexuality but of those men who dressed finely, walked well, paraded etc. There are specific greek words that are homosexual, but these are not used at all.

That is because "The Homosexual" did not exist in Ancient Greece. There were homosexual acts. We have the first artifacts depicting men sodomizing each other in Ancient Greek vases. However, the word homosexual was coined by human rights campaigner Karl-Maria Kertbeny in Germany in 1869. That's many years of homosexual actions by people who could not technically identify as homosexuals. Now that was over 125 years ago and people are still not cluing in that this is a human rights issue.

LaM is right. Why on earth are we arguing with this guy? Are we all masochists?

You must be... mwahaha.

SirKenin -> RE: Same-sex marriage (5/31/2005 3:47:05 PM)

Anyways, read the link I posted. You will see that the word homosexual is not used, rather the act itself is described.

Lordandmaster -> RE: Same-sex marriage (5/31/2005 3:49:09 PM)

Yes, LA is absolutely right.

This is a reasonable article:

http://encyclopedia.laborlawtalk.com/Homosexuality

It has a buncha typos though.

The standard history of homosexuality in Greece is still K.J. Dover's Greek Homosexuality.

But, you know, I asked Kenin to look up "covenant" in a law dictionary. I asked him to go back to his Bible and count the generations from Noah to Christ. He didn't do any of that: it's a lot easier to pontificate than to go and read something. So I doubt he's going to start reading academic studies of Greek homosexuality.

Kenin, your response is not totally comprehensible, but look, if you take geology seriously, then you don't believe that human beings populated the earth five days after it was created.

That means you don't believe the account of the creation of the universe in Genesis 1 is literally true.

That means you don't think the Bible is literally true.

No, that is not true at all. If you read elsewhere you will understand how God is infinite, how time does not apply to God, how a thousand years is like one day to God. The story in Genesis was coined well before writing was ever invented. The stories were simplified to be passed down from generation to generation. It was the Sumerians in about 15,000 BC who finally put to "paper" the stories that are now included in Genesis.

Anyways, there is some literalism in the Bible, but not all of it is, that is to be certain.. At least much of it is wide open to misinterpretations as you can see.

There is nothing to show. You jumped to conclusions before ascertaining the facts and made a fool out of Yourself. It would have been much easier for You to ask WHY it was that I was seeking a bi-sexual woman first, before You jumped to conclusions and stuck Your foot in your mouth.

Of course there is nothing to show Me, there is nothing left to say except OOOPS, and far be it from You to admit that You were mistaken. Pride will not let You do that.

Ok. I'll bite Kenin. Why do you want a bisexual woman?

- LA

You had Your chance... And You blew it.

Lordandmaster -> RE: Same-sex marriage (5/31/2005 3:52:55 PM)

OK, what is "not true at all"? Is the Bible literally true or is it not literally true? Answer a question. It's one or the other. It's not both.

(Besides, the Bible never once mentions the Sumerians. You're really getting hammered. Who taught you your Bible?)

Lam

Edited to add: The Sumerians in 15,000 B.C.? OK, conversation over. Kenin, you need to read some things before you argue with literate people.

Ancient history taught Me about the Sumerians. you're not hammering Me at all. you are merely demonstrating your ignorance and lack of education.

Incidentally, lam, the Sumerians invented cuneiform, the precursor to modern writing, somewhere in the neighborhood of 15,000 BC, give or take a few years.

Whatever You like to think, or as I always say "whatever turns Your crank". I am happier just knowing that at least to Me You came off looking like an ass.

That's off by over ten thousand years, Kenin. Please, I'm not just saying this to discredit you or damage your ego. GO AND READ SOMETHING.

No you are right. I must apologize and wonder what on earth I was thinking at the time. It was 5000 BC, to record all the sales that they had made.... oops. [&o]

edit: It has been a long time since I read up on that, and in particular it was in reference to locating the Garden of Eden and the history behind it.

I'll take coming off looking like an ass to you... whereas you came off looking like an ass AND an hypocrite to many.

Again, until you can explain why you want a bisexual girl if it isn't sexual, then you haven't got a leg to stand on.

I'm very worried for his soul if he's really not a virgin. Especially after all this preaching.

But, based on his maturity, it might be that he really is celibate.

Ok.. You are right......... lol [sm=lol.gif] You got Me.... I do not know how I can ever show My face again. How will I ever prove My worth, knowing that someone I do not know and could care less about does not believe My motivations? Truly My life is over. I did not give into Their worthless demands when They could have just done things right the first time around and now I amount to truly nothing. *sigh* I did not give in to their inanity, so therefore I must be lying.

haha. Give Me a break. Too funny.

A virgin? Ummm... I do not know a single married person that is a virgin, nor does the Bible demand it ANYWHERE. Paul said if you cannot contain yourself then marry. I married. I have two kids as a result. I divorced for Biblical reasons. Shoot Me now and put Me out of My misery, oh holy one that is trying in vain to discredit Me, but cannot by taking the high road.

Nah. You claim that you want a bisexual girl for a reason other then sex. The onus is on you to prove why. I personally don't care what you do with girls. I'm just pointing out the flaw in your statement. As I said, you can sit there and tell me it's none of my business or be a man and educate us on the other virtues of a bisexual woman.
