velvetears -> Peace Offering (5/28/2007 7:37:20 PM)

The debate between slave and sub has gone on for as long as i can remember. It has caused more hard and hurt feelings, arguments, rifts, misunderstandings, anger, frustrations, etc than any others two terms under the bdsm umbrella ever have.  THEREFORE i am creating for all who want to adopt it a brand new term to satisfy everyone once and for all...... SLUB = (slave+sub) - Now no one  has to ever again argue and you can take from each definition what you want and call it slub.  [:D]

livenlearn -> RE: Peace Offering (5/28/2007 7:39:02 PM)

Slub lol?

Personally, I like suave better ( sub+slave) [8D]

mistoferin -> RE: Peace Offering (5/28/2007 7:39:10 PM)

That's not a new term.

velvetears -> RE: Peace Offering (5/28/2007 7:40:35 PM)

Well i never heard it - can you direct me to where it originated [:)]

AquaticSub -> RE: Peace Offering (5/28/2007 7:41:14 PM)

*Snicker*

Thanks for that. Made my night.

mistoferin -> RE: Peace Offering (5/28/2007 7:42:58 PM)

If you do a search here on the word "slub" you will find many references. I know that I've occasionally referred to myself as a maso-slub for a number of years.

velvetears -> RE: Peace Offering (5/28/2007 7:43:04 PM)

This slubs glad to be of service [:)]

LaMistressa -> RE: Peace Offering (5/28/2007 7:46:44 PM)

And if you were a sloppy dresser, would you be a schlub?

velvetears -> RE: Peace Offering (5/28/2007 7:49:10 PM)

i dare anyone to say slubby schlub ten times without getting tongue tied [;)]

I agree sounds so sophisticated....lol

juliaoceania -> RE: Peace Offering (5/28/2007 8:32:58 PM)

I do not see many people around here arguing about which is better or worse... most of us do not even know where to draw the distinction.. it is kinda like asking which color one likes.. it does not make the other colors wrong or bad that we have a favorite color.

Once in a while someone will come on here and make comments that are derogatory about one or the other, but mostly I have seen a lot of respect between the submissives and the slaves at least. Perhaps I am wearing rose colored glasses

EvilGeoff -> RE: Peace Offering (5/28/2007 8:53:19 PM)

Personally.... I like Literotica's answer - PYL/pyl - meaning Pick Your Label/pick your label, on either side of the slash.

As for the great slub/suave debate, I vote suave (pronounced sw-Ave) for sub + slave.  Slub just sounds so negative.

Wildfleurs -> RE: Peace Offering (5/28/2007 9:07:55 PM)

FR...

Definitely not a new term - I've used that term jokingly to refer to hybrid slave/subs for years (and I've heard other people use that term also).

zindyslave -> RE: Peace Offering (5/28/2007 9:08:19 PM)

Only thing that could possibly be wrong with using suave is that people might think we are refering to the shampoo...lol..now that could be confusing.

slavegirljoy -> RE: Peace Offering (5/28/2007 10:43:37 PM)

i would never criticize anyone for calling themself a slub or anything else that they choose.  As for me, i will stick with calling myself a slave or a submissive.  It's what i am.

i have always been submissive to men and, recently, to some women, as well.  i was never a slave, even when i was a married submissive to my Dominant husband.  i was a submissive individual but, not another's property.  i became a slave in Dec. 2005, when my Master took ownership of me and i became His property.  For me, that's the defining distinction between the two terms.

i would never call myself a "slub".  That word has no meaning to me.  It sounds like a cross between a slug and a slob and i am neither of those things.

Calandra -> RE: Peace Offering (5/28/2007 11:08:33 PM)

Merriam-Webster Dictionary has two definitions for the word slub:

1.) transitive verb: to draw out and twist (as slivers of wool) slightly.
2.) noun: a soft thick uneven section in a yarn or thread.

I dunno, I think I prefer the concept of communicating My definitions, and listening to the other person's definition in return. I simply do not see subs and slaves as the same thing, so creating a word that fits both would be like assigning the following: dog + kangaroo = dongaroo.

jaunty1 -> RE: Peace Offering (5/29/2007 4:41:38 AM)

I have no issues with what any other person wishes to call themselves; whether it be submissive, slave, switch, etc. The only one's that I worry about are my girl and I; we are the only ones that matter.

Live well

IrishMist -> RE: Peace Offering (5/29/2007 4:53:47 AM)

If someone wants to call themselves a submissive; that's their perogative.
If someone wants to call themselves a slave; that's their perogative.
If someone wants to call me  either one; again, that's their perogative.

I stopped worrying about what others call themselves and me a long time ago.

Let the debates continue I say [8D]

Actually, I think "s-type" has been running around for a while.

jauntyone -> RE: Peace Offering (5/29/2007 9:19:22 AM)

Greetings

Personally, I am quite content with what ever Master decides to call me on any given day. I don't concern myself with what others call me or with what they call themselves.

I quite enjoy the lively debates that do go on over the usage of words; it gives me insight into different opinions and makes for some wonderful discussions.

I wish you well

melissa
