To me it's just not something I'd be interested in.
All my sexual desires are for females.
That being said I don't mind bi-sexuality in women though! I like to watch!
Preferably I'd like to find a bi sub or slave but that wouldn't be a deal killer.

To use a baseball analogy, bisexuality is switch-hitting. More precisely... it's the ability to become sexually aroused, swinging from either side of the plate.

DiurnalVampire -> RE: What is Bisexuality to YOU? (5/29/2007 2:49:39 PM)

To me, bisexuality has always been the freedom to be openly and happily interesed in sex with, and falling in love with (if it happens) both genders based on who someone is and not what plumbing they were born with. I never could understand why someone would want to limit who they can have feelings for strictly by gender, when I was younger it never made sense. It wasnt until I was older that I realized that MY way of thinking was the unusual one.

michaelOfGeorgia -> RE: What is Bisexuality to YOU? (5/29/2007 3:01:46 PM)

it's exceptable for others...but not for me personally...i'm very straight.

I am called an "omni-pervert" by one dear friend.  [:D]

Men and women both appeal to me on mental, emotional,
physical, spiritual and sexual levels.  I have had sexual and
romantic relationships with both.

For me and me only; bisexuality is simply having sex with the same gender

Thats my take on it also

eveningtwilight -> RE: What is Bisexuality to YOU? (5/29/2007 3:30:41 PM)

To me, bisexuality is being genuinly sexually attracted to both genders.

Yes!

And what happened to pansexual?  I feel as if the het/bi/homo-sexual is stuck within a heteronormative grammar and incorportates all its questionable assumptions.

(its dawning on me that maybe you were being sarcastic when you mentioned polymorphously perverse)

I wasnt actually.

Even though the phrase originated with Freud does not mean the concept it describes is wrong.

Ok.  Cool.  I picked it up from Marcuse's Eros and Civilization.  I've never been all that enamored with freudians, but, the way I see it, if the concept works, there's no harm in stealing it.

I say that because in my opinion being "Gay" is not just about having sex and what we do with our genitals. It is about who we identify with having an intimate relationship. If being gay is not about just sex, then why is being bisexual? To me we are more than what we do with our genitals, it is whom we form attachments to that matters (just my opinion)

Well, for some gays, it is "just about having sex" and not about "having an intimate relationship".  There is an openly gay man, who lives right across the street from me, who goes out every night and brings a man home with him.  Of course, i have no idea whether they are having sex in his house or not but, every morning when i go out to get the newspaper and fill my birdfeeders, i see him drive off with a different man.  He has lived alone there for many years and has never had the same man over to his house or had any man stay more than one night.

For some people, sex is sex and has nothing to do with having an intimate relationship.  Whether the sex is with a person of the opposite gender or with the same gender or with either/both genders, intimacy doesn't always factor in.

Bisexuality can mean having an attraction to both genders on a physical and/or emotional level or it can mean simply having sex with either or both genders.  Heterosexuals have sex with the opposite gender and many of them do so very often without any intimacy being present between them.  It's sometimes called having a "one night stand" or "wham, bam, thank ya ma'am" and without  any expectation or desire to ever see each other again.

I got it from one of the Second Wave feminists, dont remember which one.

Then I researched it and found out it was a Freudian concept.  Rather ahead of it's
time, really.

I am sure there are het people who behave the same way, but if one day that person settled down, I am going to take a wild guess here.. he wouldn't be picking a mate with a vagina... just sayin.

I do not think my definition is the only one in the world nor the only right way of looking at the world. I never claimed that, if you read my post that way, it was not written that way.. several times I wrote it is my opinion, and the thread title is What is Bisexuality to YOU?

I answered what it is to me.

Have a nice evening

LightHeartedMaam -> RE: What is Bisexuality to YOU? (5/29/2007 4:32:52 PM)

I have a question that has befuddled me for years.

The last thing I ask a person is their sexual orientation when we are just friends.  I’ve had 3 bisexual women hit on me over the years.  Sideling up to me to attempt a seduction.

I’m pleasant to everyone so I don’t think my friendliness was the “come on” signal.  It insulted me pretty much because they knew better because I’m obviously hetero.

What signals do you look for before you feel you can approach someone that you feel might be “interested” in you?

juliaoceania -> RE: What is Bisexuality to YOU? (5/29/2007 4:40:23 PM)

I have had a couple of women hit on me.... I was not offended, just not interested. It does not cross my mind that they are coming on to me, so each time they had to be blatant about it

Sinergy -> RE: What is Bisexuality to YOU? (5/29/2007 5:04:37 PM)

I had an close gay male friend once.  He once asked me why, since I was heterosexual, why it did not offend me that he was one of the charicaturish limp-wristed, gay-bathhouse, interior-decorating, fashionably-dressing, anonymous sex with 100s of men, etc., sorts of gay person.

I said I enjoyed being his friend, and if he put his hand on my knee he would pull back a bloody stump.

We laughed and talked about something else.

darkinshadows -> RE: What is Bisexuality to YOU? (5/29/2007 5:34:49 PM)

Bi  = having the ability to express in two ways.
Sexual = An activity that is defined within a sex context.

Therefore a bisexual has the ability to express their sexuality in two different sexual genders.

Peace

That was pretty much the way I felt too :)
