ORIGINAL: BeautifulDoll That is one of the best and most thorough response i have had on a reply to a thread i have started. i thank you so much for that. What is the basic want for those wanting to do corseting? ideally what size waist do most go for and does this help you to lose weight all over as well? Thanks :) This is someting I'm very interested in, even though I don't get to corset that often. On to the questions-- It's totally dependant on the person. most people seem to be content with about a four inch reduction. I like more, personally, but my body type can carry a larger reduction. (I don't like the disproportionaly small waist look) Figure out what kind of silhoette you want, and see what looks good, to you. I'd say start with a corset that has the potential to reduce 4 to 6, because if you don't like it too tight, four inches really isn't that bad. I could do that the first time I put on a corset. (My first custom was designed to be a 4 reduction, and I could close it the first day I got it. I'm squishy :) ) Too, take into account your squishyness. I think that people who start out bigger can problably lace down further (I'm not sure about this. Just speculation) I know some people who get 12-15 inch reductions. THat takes a lot of time and 23/7 wear, though. Not something I am personally allowed to do. Some people say wearing a corset helps you loose weight, because you can eat only smaller portions. I don't really see it as being that helpful, though. Your best bet for losing weight is changing your diet and excercising, sadly. I've lost more weight in the time I've done that than I have in all my time wearing a corset. If you're planning on losing weight, don't outlay a lot of money on your first corset. That's the one time when I'd advocate getting a cheaper, off the rackone. I've shrunk out of my first corset and I'm incredibly sad about it. I bought it before I'd lost weight, and it was already a bit bigger than i wanted, So I ended up with a corset that doesn't really reduce me much. I'm thinking of making some alterations to it, though, but that's risky. Oh yeah, if you're large chested, I'd recomend and underbust or waist cincher because it is HARD to get an overbust that fits larger chests without giving you shelf-boob. THere was a corsitier that could do it, but she retired about a year ago, sadly :( Anyway, if you have any other questions, I can do my best to answer, or dirrect you to someone who can :) Good luck and if it's ok with your owner/partner/master/et al I would LOVE to see corset pictures :) Even if it's just of the corset. I dig them, obviously
