If you've tried it how did you like the food, was it tasty, or other wise to your likeing? How about if it was NOT to your liking. And why not? Did you find that their portions really did help with portion control like they claimed to, and was it nutritionally balanced in your opinion, like claim to be.

How about their policies, was it easy to cancle any time you liked, did you feel they were curtious, ect ect, Most of all did you find with this program it was indeed helpful with your quest to loose weight?

Did you have to talk to your doctor or anything before starting this diet, yes I know, it recomends you do, before any diet. But then we all know we do not always ask our dr first.

I am looking for comments from people with experince with this program.

When I used this diet back in 1995 I lost 53 lbs in 3 months. I loved the food and the portions were quite good. Then they incorporated regular food in with their purchased prepared foods.

I was never hungry and being allowed to use some regular food as part of the diet helped beat cravings.

I didn't speak with a doctor first, perhaps I should have, but didn't see the need.

I dranks the 8 glasses of water and made sure to get regular daily exercise. I found the weight loss was rapid enough to keep me going and noticed a difference in how my clothes fit in no time.

I would recommend it highly.
I found the counsellors (sp?) very helpful and curteous.

I cannot say anything about the nutrisystem diet apart that I know one person used it and became very lethargic on  it...  but I do know alot of people who have used Herbal Life system with extremely positive effects.  The one thing of herbal life is that the products contain a higher fibre and protein content than other diet systems with veg and carbs diet plan and the cancelation policy is good as there isn't one - its a buy as need - plus there is a money back guarrentee if you are unhappy early on.  You have to buy through a rep - not bought in shops - and they will recommend you buy the book 'The LA Shape Diet' by Dr David Heber - and the rep phones regularly and is your support so no need to attend clubs and groups.

The people I know who have used it swear by it and found their energy increase and the weight loss steady and positive.  Hope this info is of use.

Peace

My husband and I tried Nutrisystem last Jan (06).  Yes, we both lost like 6 lbs cuz neither of us exercised consisently.  However, the overall taste was pretty poor in our opinions.  Some of the entrees are OK but the seasoning is very bland, many of the sauces quite watery or gummy and the soy taste is very pronounced.

Yep, the portions are pretty small and it does get rather boring when done for a whole month.  It was easy to cancel.  We didn't use the on line counselors since the response time was incredibly slow.  We finally decided it was easier and cheaper in the long run to just fix our own meals and use specific serving spoons which deliver premeasured portions like 1/2 cup, 1/3 cup etc. to help keep portions under control.

I am sure it does work for many people but I prefer to have fresher tasting, more heartily seasoned and more variety to my meals than the dehydrated stuff that Nutrisystem uses.

Just our experience and opinions folks.  I am sure there are many folks who have had great results using it.

I tried it a few years ago, and found the breakfasts and lunches to be ok, but the dinners were generally unpalatable to me.  a lot of their food is dehydrated/freeze-dried (think "astronaut food")...I had a hard time getting used to the idea of a hamburger that I added water to and then stuck in the microwave.  some of the more traditional entrees were borderline catfood imo...just a lot of sauce with a few chunks of mystery meat.  I ended up sending all the food back and getting a refund.  I tried to get them to send me just breakfasts and lunches but they wouldn't, but they did refund my money, no questions asked.

I do think they have something good in the glycemic index, but a lot of their dessert products rely on artificial sweeteners.  if you are sensitive to them, or don't care for the taste, it will be difficult to stay on the diet.

if your budget allows, I think the food with Jenny Craig is much better tasting.  it is a bit more expensive, but in the end, I think there's less temptation to cheat because the food is more satisfying.  it was a lot easier to stick to, I lost 17 lbs within a reasonable amount of time.  (I didn't have a lot of weight to lose)  they tend to have food that's a bit higher in fat and sugar, but as it's more like "real" food, I think it's easier to gain a perspective on portion control.

good luck!

It was like 300 dollars for the nutri and I can't spare 300 a month,  The idea is a simple one, With some help I should be able to create portion controlled nutritionally complete meals at home. I also like the person's suggestion above about using a large serving spoon to know just how much vegitables or something you're  getting.

Nutrisystem is $263 a month. That works out to about $8.76 day, not including the free two weeks they add in to new members. My brother-in-law has a weight problem and lost 61 lbs. on the plan. He still has it off.
$8.76 does not sound very expensive to me, but it is probably relative. I spend $1.90 each morning for my Starbucks coffee fix before breakfast.

alright, I'm curious as to why you didn't put that in your original post.  it would have saved me some time in my thoughtful and considerate answer to your post.

Do my cheese sandwich diet--3 cheese sandwiches a day + salad.  It works out to around 1100 cals/day and I'm never hungry.  It's cheap too--costs me about $15/wk.

You're welcome lighthearted, see for me cooking except for the ocasional treat to my partner is kind of well a non interest, so I liked the idea of having all your meals ready to go, and it was nutritional, unlike most tv dinners. I don't like to cook much, and my tastes change randomly, you may ask me what do you want for dinner, and i honestly don't know untill the opertunity to pick has passed.

Any diets that force you to purchase food from a company usually produce results if you stick to the program. The trouble with the program is that once you stop eating their food and return to your old lifestyle, you'll gain weight again. The Atkins diet worked like that as well--I knew people who lost 60-70 lbs and gained it all back as soon as they started eating carbs again. The best diet is calorie monitoring and exercise; this type of diet is more fulfilling and has the potential to keep you where you want to be for long periods of time. For men, cutting down to 1000-1400 calories per day with exercise will cause you to lose a pound of fat every two weeks. For women, the number of calories should be a bit lower because of muscle composition.

I am hoping to increase pycsical activity, I walk dogs twice a week, and while it's not much exercise , because once we get to the pen I sit down, it is some exercise getting them out of the cages to the back and then into cages again.

My younger brother has been on Nutrisystem for a few months now. He is losing a lot of weight, and he is also seeing a nurtitionist before he gets off the diet, so that when he does finish losing the immediate weight he can learn to eat properly. The idea is to use the diet as a tool, not a cureall. If you depend on the diet alone and dont learn how to maintain things afterwards then you are asking for problems.
