ORIGINAL: MsSilvie You probably want to see a doctor about that. People can catch things from sexual activity, you know. I don't think an over the counter yeast treatment would do anything bad to you if you didn't have a yeast infection. A vinegar and water douche may help. I've used betadine liquid for yeast infections in the past before you could get OTC yeast treatments with good success. I think they may make an actual douche kit with betadine. I've heard that douching can cause more harm then good so using a douche makes me nervous. I'm in the process of switching insurances and the transition hasn't taken place just yet so it may be a few weeks before I'm able to go to the doctor. I know the other girl involved was tested for HIV but I agree that it could be some other form of STD. I've never heard of an STD that changes your vaginal scent. I know that symptoms can vary though. Douching is generally discouraged because people do it with WATER or worse yet, SOAP. Both of these types of douching are BAD because the lower the natural acidity of your vagina, the very acidity that keeps the bacteria away. However, a vinegar douche (if porportioned correctly) will make your vagine MORE acidic, which is GOOD, if your problem is that it isn't acidic enough. On the other hand, sometimes it's just better to let your vagina figure things out for itself.
