okay, i've heard two opposite takes, and one totally off topic. 1, a sub showing they're always "ready" 2, a Dom/me advertisings what they are 3, an off-duty police officer has anyone else heard any ideas on the matter? phoenix

I've seen many people who have no connection to D/s hang handcuffs from rear view mirrors I lived in a rough area over in Tampa briefly with several well known gangs scattered about. I noticed one neighbor who had handcuffs on his mirror & not being a shy person, I asked about them. He told me that when he was in his "hood" he placed them on his mirror to show he was in an area that he owned but when he traveled out of his area he took them down. So it would seem that they could be used as a 'flagging system' as well but not letting people in on they being D/s. I have a cousin who hangs a set just because he thinks they look cool. I told him that some might see it as him being kinky... he just blushed, laughed & said he would send them my way. oops, clicked quote instead of edit... n-e-e-d m-o-r-e c-o-f-f-e-e

I received a ticket for hanging a set from my rear-view mirror. In Illinois it is against the law to hang anything from your mirror. I got stopped at 1 of those supposed safety check points and they gave me the ticket. Cost me $75 bucks. Boy I sure felt safe after that

I think it's like the handkerchiefs. If they meant something once, they've become so popularized they don't matter anymore.

Just from the times i've seen them, i've always thought they were a gang/ghetto/ex-con thing. Also a pretty good way to bring your rearview mirror down prematurely. Haven't really seen lifestyle people doing it.

hmm,,,very interesting........ well, all the kids i saw doing this were maybe 18-20 y/o's and their address was named after a tree, the suburben type. i'd ask and get referanced a kink answer. i know north carolina used to have that law about the mirrors. personally, i like the amy brown air freshners hanging off the mirror, but i like the air freshners that look like dragon jewlry too.[:D]

i bought a used car once and there was a pair locked to the mirror. took a couple years until my neighbors sister visited and had a key to remove them. i never asked her why she had a key though lol

I've seen a few and it never made me think they were in the lifestyle, just a person wasting a perfectly good pair that could be used elsewhere....

Greetings, I'm a trucker, used to keep a set of fuzzy cuffs hanging from my airhorn cord. They were very visible. I called them a conversation starter, people would ask about them and maybe the conversation would lead to kink. Funny, it seems there are a lot of truckers who want to be cuffed and used by a woman. When I said I wanted them used on me rather than use them myself....they would fade away. be well, ps77
