see I always thought of the main button as the Dominant One
and the fast reply button as the suplicant one. So I never use it.
ohh yes I could care less if anyone quotes Me right or not. but I
do care if You dont cap My name!! ~smiles

Sometimes it is important to just go with the flow.

Quoting yet others in one's replies to others...

When you see that you are the one being replied to, you assume the quote block will contain your words and not those of another....

ooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. i've learned something. thanks, proudsub!

This is what I'm talking about, right here... this very thing.

This message board allows the reader to select text from any post and then click reply to any "given" post, and the new posted reply will contain the quoted selected text (without mention of the real author???), and make it appear that the quoted text is the comments of "the person being replied to".

In addition, the infamous and dastardly "Fast Reply" button seems to be an appender... meaning it replies automatically to the last poster in the thread (regardless of who's text you have highlighted/selected). Unintentional use of this "message board quirk" is one thing, but wait until unorthodox types learn of it and they will no doubt use it as intentional subterfuge, and deliberately misquote in all their posts simply to mess with your head.

How the "Fast Reply" button came into play was partly from guilt and partly from association. It's effect is of replying to last poster, but when coupled with the power of "select text", the benign tool becomes a weapon of mass psychological destruction (WMPD). This harmless process can be exploited by the "truly unruly" to wreak havoc on normal message board operations, have people thinking their grits were pissed in, severe innuendo quoting is also possible, but we'll not get into that if we can nip this nasty lil bastard in the bud once and for all... with education and understanding (the two greatest weapons man never invented).

Everybody with me so far? [;)]
